Just like a strobe light isn't it? Did you build it that way to remind you of your disco days! :-D

Nice to see the system is working for someone and I wonder what you have done differently than some of us with no positive results to show. Nozzles location? Fluid concentration? Timing or boost adjustment?

So, how was the trip?

I know it may not be the most environmentally friendly mod, but I do suggest putting an oil catch can on your PCV line instead of running it into your inlet. As you said the oil clogs up your nozzle, well it oils everything else as well, if you have an intercooler it will lose efficiency or even clog up. Of course your intake manifold will get all nasty as well and in severe cases will also clog up (VW TDIs are horrible for this). Your engine will run better and it is also a good indicator of how your rings are doing, excessive blowby = lots of oil in the catch can.

My two cents on water meth injection, after all this ranting. It works amazing on direct injection diesels, I still have never installed one on an IDI diesel but have been told it does not help as much with the EGT cooling, but it still helps reduce them. When I get my next truck (2.8 Pajero) I will install a water/meth system for sure. I have also never heard of spraying pre turbo, I'll do a little more research before I consider that.

Not disco,HEAVY METAL days.
I don't think nozzle placement is the problem. When I first installed my kit,my nozzles plugged up weekly. No matter how good you clean the lines, tank & connectors before the install, some dust or small particles find there way into the system.I think you need to remove the nozzles, check the mesh filter inside & look inside the nozzles.Spray them out with brake clean. The other way to see if your system is working is to get your motor up to temp. Then at idle turn the system on for a moment. There should be about a 500rpm increase.
I'll hook up a catch can tonight & watch the level. My Deli came with only 32000km so at 70000km its broken in now.Never lost any oil between oil changes.

Running the pcv line into the catch can made a big difference.Ran through a tank of fuel(570 km).Only had about .1l in the can.Not having the hot gases going into the intake lowered egt by about 50f.Seems to run better.

Great info, fellas. I am planning to do this on my 2.8 Paj next summer. I just did the washer mod to my actuator, and am hitting 12psi now, on WOT. Also had my injectors rebuilt. But when towing, I was going up 10 mile hill outside Golden, 73kmh (GPS), and my EGTs got to 1250... after turbo. Scary. Needless to say I backed off more... But I'd like to lower those temps. Even a little will make a difference when towing in the mountains.

I'm sure all of us would appreciate continued updates, as you all adjust and use your systems.

Regards
Phil

...and if you route it back from the can into the intake tract then it's not environmentally unfriendly at all. Just make sure to put baffles in the catch-can, and some coarse stainless steel-wool, and a screen (after the wool) to help condense the oil. Also make sure the hose inside dia. is as large as the inside dia. of the engine outlet/inlet fittings to prevent excess crankcase pressure.

Just went for a ride in Shauns van, you can definitely feel the injection system turn on and the egt's definitely climb much slower while injecting, my confirmation to his earlier statements validity.

Hey I am so very keen to hear that, as I am one of the members that bought it back in January but never installed it. After hearing the feedback from the other folks I got cold feet about it. It now looks as someone is finally get a positive experience and I am stoked that it is working out for Shaun.

New info on my system.I made a bracket to go on my pop off valve with an adjustable spring. My max boost now is 23psi.Can feel the water injection turn on much more noticeably.Injection turns on at 20psi.Egt is lower, more air volume lean out mixture, running cooler? It is at about 870F on the 232 on ramp going east bound wot.
Hey Mephisto any idea why more boost makes me run cooler?

Niiice work! bet it feels awesome!

At WOT with the boost set higher, the whole system sees more air, which would usually cause more heat, but since your in-cylinder temps are being kept down with the water, the additional air has a cooling effect since atmospheric air is being run through the system more rapidly. Add an intercooler and a pajero ip and that would be the ultimately efficient deli setup (aside from a holset hx-35 that is :P)

Shaun:

Do you have any pictures of the bracket you made for the "Pop Valve". This sounds like a cheap way to get extra boost without blocking the valve totally. 23 # is a lot of boost.
