Delica Canada | Mitsubishi Van Club | Bypass Oil Filters

I've been doing some research on these after a co-worker put me onto them, and they sound like a great add-on. Just wondering if anyone out there has any prior experience or feedback.

These guys seem to be quite reasonable in price $120 AUD, but they are all the way in Aussieland. I'm waiting for a response for more details.

Kleen oil are a bit higher priced but available locally. $400 CAD .

These guys appear to be the original real deal, available locally and still not badly priced. $200 US. The best part... the filters are toilet paper rolls . Waiting for more info from their Canadian distributor too.

Then there is the Amsoil kit. $170 for the unit and about $36 per filter.

This is a good promo video, but it has alot of good info in it as well.

There are others out there, but from what I've found, these seem to be three of the best options. If anyone does more research or has input, add away.

I had the amsoil dual bypass kit on my Pajero.

Well worth the inital cost IMO.

Going to put one on the Delica as well when I get the chance. Not enough time to do anything !

Wow, the amsoil one is a killer deal too eh? hmmmm.

The thing I'm not too keen on with the Amsoil kit is the price of the filter, that and I'm not too sure about availability. All the other kits take filters that are available at any 7-11, Safeway, Costco, or even a corner store.

I heard back from Jackmaster, I was quoted $85 AUD per housing, downside may be the shipping costs. Still researching...

Had the AMS system on an 84 Toyota Van and a 70 Eldorado, the Toy I bought new and the Caddy had a rebuilt engine. Also gave the van a Microlon new engine treatment, was an aircraft engine kit actually. On the Toyota the results were most impressive visually; during my 380,000km with that van the oil drained, during an oil change, looking almost new!

A couple years after owning these vehicles, relocated to Cowtown and worked for a lab performing wear metal analysis on motor oil. Metals in the oil in my motor oil samples was way below normal; the only other test levels that were similar was on mid-mileage diesel motors with bypass oil filters.

Though the Caddy stayed parked in Vancouver, brought a few small bottles of its old oil to Calgary with me – didn’t have much money then and too much had already gone into that (silly) 8.2 litre beastie.

..currently running the Amsoil dual bypass kit from TYVTAYLOR (Ebay)...purchased the Dodge Cummins Diesel remote kit for 179.00. The Mitsu's oil filter is 26mmx1.5mm and the Dodge is 1" x 16 tpi (quick math for you is the mitsubishi is .6 larger in diameter and thread pitch is closer to 18-20)..simply re-threaded the remote adapter then installed...no problem...and no more expensive filters that are not as good as the 2-4micron units available for the kit through Amsoil. I'll post pics with the intercooler/injection install later in the month when its all finished.

..sorry that was TMVTAYLOR ..forgot it also adds about 2 quarts of extra oil to the system and you can mount in font of the rad for added oil cooling.(but poor access )

I put on the Frantz bypass filter, which is supplied by We Filter It, about 3000 kms ago and switched to synthetic oil at the same time. So far the oil seems to be fairing well and I certainly will be saving $$ on oil filters and can change them as often as I like. The unfortunate thing is to truly know what's going on you would need to test your oil before putting on the filter and then after, use the same type of oil, etc. I chose to go by the many testimonials saying how much better bypass filters are. I suppose I'll never really know how much my bypass filter has helped.

Bionic and Robin, would you guys mind posting some pictures of your setups. Just so we have an idea of fitting and hose routing.

I'm going to do an oil change this week, and just for the audience (drum roll please...) I will completely remove and re-install my bypass system with pics. I will also document the fabrication of the adapter... Figure it's always best to show mods then talk it. Tired of how some have "done" these things but yet cannot elaborate on the details. Time for a change.(in both respects...lol)

Hey Fishtank, don't know if you ever got your filter installed, but here's some pics of what I did and it seems to be working well for me. It took longer to change the battery and mount the filter than it did to run the lines. I think an hour and a half all total would get it installed. Another note is that the frantz kit came with NO extra hose. 2 " shorter and it wouldn't have been enough. The supply line runs out of the battery compartment across the front of the motor and down the other side. The return line runs out of the battery compartment and down to the oil pan.
