Me again looking for fellow enthousiasts ready to put the beloved Delica to good use...

Myself I'm free as of Friday night on the 12th (and up until Tuesday morning) but will delay to go out as a convoy...

I don't care where we go, could be the Island, Okanagan... as long as we're in good company, have some nice camp fires, good offroading and fine drinks! Might even look for snow...

It would be nice as well to see new faces out there!

Anyone interested?
Any suggestions?

David

If you come to the Big Island, I would recommend French Beach. There is a big stretch of beach there and the waves in the Straits are always rolling onto it - very calming.

(And now that I've just realised what I typed, all can insert suitable language jokes here!)

And... you could attend the coffee-meet that is shaping up to be on the 13th.

If you want to come to the island, we'd be game! We have the big tent, woodstove, all the comforts as you know!

Salut David,

The TardisDeli is packed ready to go ... what about joining the group at Victoria on Saturday. We could camp (French Creek suggests Mararmeisto). Ferry will be $40.35 plus tax & surcharge, winter rate.

Other ideas, Fraser River near Agassiz if roads are snowy higher up, or Jones Lake before Hope if roads OK at higher elevations.

Don't know of any hotsprings closer than Harrison.

I'm in if it's on this side of the pond( not that I dont like the island but budget restriction). and as far as hotspring..... well meager creek and sloquet are the only one's I can think of.

Hotsprings would be nice, but I worry about roads:

Meager Creek bridge washout over huge river (still as of end Sept 08) so 7 km walk to hotsprings. Bummer.

Harrison will probably have too much ice on the road by then (ice plus ditches and cliffs on side of road = ouch).

So, a big huge campfire instead?
Chrsitne.

Glad to see some Delica owners are still willing to go out and play!

There's been a strong pull from the Islanders to host the camping weekend and join us. We've always had good time visiting the Island, very tempting! Only problem is that we'd loose 1/2 day going there and same coming back, on a weekend trip this kinda sucks. A few of those interested in going out would rather stay on this side so sounds like we'll keep the Island trip for a Spring long weekend. Sorry Mararmeisto and kb&2dogs, :-( would have been great to join you for the meet and camping but we'll have to save it for another time.

So Mainland it is for this trip.
We can go East or North. I don't think we need an "official" camping place, just anywhere that we could stay for the night with low impact on the location. Last time me and Falco went to Gold Bridge we found some place that could suit large group but anywhere is good.

I'd still be curious to visit the Okanagan, it's a little bit of a drive but less than ferry trip. But haven't heard back from any of the Okanagan crew?
Chilliwack, Hope area is always good,
Squamish area?

Sorry Delicat for another missed call from you this afternoon; your # is in my phone book now, so no unanswered calls any more unless I am in the office during the day or working on somebody's PC under the desk :-( after hours or on a weekend.
There is an easy drive to Nahatlatch where we will most likely need to test tire chains. It might be boring for my crew to go there again as we were camping there 3 times this year already but from the other hand we have never been there later than in October. The main question for my crew is: what kind of activities a camping area can offer? Sloquet HS always wins with the hot tab :-D , the cold tab  and drinks all year round :-) anywhere in the area :-D  :-D + free fireworks entertainment and a revenge next morning. I would like to see what you have found with Falco in Gold Bridge and he knows what Nahatlatch is about. There is a river, 3 lakes and a waterfall which we have never seen in winter time. Here is a free tip: we have snowshoes...

Hi all, hot tub is not a must. I just thought it would be sweet to get warm in the eve before dinner...

Question, do we start the trip Friday afternoon? We would be ready for 4 or 5 pm. I guess is not as fun to drive in the dark, but we would have 3 full days in the wild. :-)

Looooove the snowshoe idea. We've been for 2 long hikes in whistler this weekend.

You, Sergiy, are baiting me... smiles.

How many people have chains, out of curiosity? Snow shoeing could be good. Can anyone ice fish? We can explore in our Delicas! We could sit around the camp fire, sing songs and see how many avalanches we could set off.

On the Crow's Nest, in West Hedley, there is a wicked butcher whom makes the best beef jerky I have ever tasted (and only four or five ingredients, all traditionally natural). If we went to somewhere 'round Kelowna we could entice some of the Northern Group to join us..... hmmmmmm.....

You know? This is Super Natural British Columbia. You have seen the magazine..... There has to be some beautiful snow clad paradise that we could get to.

Falco.

After two days of driving on snowy/icy logging roads, we definitely going to by chains this week at Quality Chains.
Like the idea of snowshoeing and ice fishing.

The Tardisdeli and myself went checking some places around Squamish today, found some simple place to camp and lots of roads to get lost. We managed to hit the snow line but it was still drivable.

That beef jerky sounds good as well... I'm sure we could just head out and find places to explore but if anyone has been to places that would be worth playing in for a weekend please share with us!

I'm good to go after 6pm on Friday...

No new comers curious to join us?
