EGR deletion in diesel engines is considered justifiable by a wide range of people, including the environmentally conscious. Although deleting the EGR system results in increased NOx levels, hydrocarbon emissions, Particulates, Carbon monoxide and Carbon dioxide are drastically reduced. Furthermore, EGR deletion results in an increase in fuel economy as high as 25%. Exhaust gas recirculated back into the cylinders adds wear-inducing contaminants and causes an increase engine oil acidity, which can result in an inefficient, poorly running engine. The increased level of soot also creates the need for diesel particulate filters to prevent environmental contamination.

Not my words this is straight out of wikipedia which is right more often than not. I also seem to remember deleting faulty egr valves
on late 80's cat 3208's that could not meet roadside test requirements for soot emissions with the consent of Crothers (the cat dealers
in Ontario at that time). I wonder if Glen at CCA could add anything to this question to help clarify it a bit. He certainly sees enough
of them to have formed an opinion one way or the other. All this being said I will be watching my van closely after closing this valve
permanently to see if I get less smoke and better mileage( I hope so as my milage sucks at 13L/100km). Wish me luck.

Green1...wow. We'll quickly end this. Mitsubishi Delica's (yes..our model the l300) does not come with a factory installed EGR system in all countries that do not require it. As far as other mods - ask them what they adjust -your getting off topic and stick to the point about the EGR system. As far as some guys in the UK having problems after this mod -your must be right - since a " a lot" had this problem- the hundreds that have blocked it with fewer problems must be the anomoly (enough to enable fabricators everywhere to build and sell delete plates)
The point is that Mitsubishi obvoiusly did not design the 4D56T ONLY with an EGR system my friend- as is shown by the many applications they support where one is not used from the factory. Your point that since the truck has one installed from the JDM -it must be beneficial. The fact that I installed LHD headlights for BC inspection and some side markers (which the factory NEVER installed) must be an issue for you as well......

I AM sticking to the point, the point is that when they remove the EGR they ALSO make other changes to compensate for it. and unless you make those same changes, you will never end up with as good performance as having a properly functioning EGR.
the vehicle is designed to have it, the engine is tuned to have it, removing it, while not detrimental, takes the whole system out of whack and is never going to be as good as having it working properly, unless you can tune everything else properly to compensate.

But Nobody answered my original question.........

I have cleaned my EGR and would like to try and use it but How can I tell if it is indeed working propery, and not just staying closed all the time or opening at the right times, any way to test this??
