I've spent some time out west over the past few years and noticed the Delicas driving around. Would love to own one. Any dealers in Ontario? Just started searching, researching.

Cheers
Mike

**** EDIT: removing my recomendation for Luxury imports due to their recent change in attitude slandering the entire import process, flinging baseless accusations at other importers and exporters, and admission of illegal importing ****

Beyond that, pretty much every importer ships to anywhere you need, so if you find one that you trust, you can buy without them being local.

Personally I've always liked going to the coast and picking up the vehicle, gives you a good introductory drive as you head home (I realize Ontario is a bit farther to drive than Alberta, but this really is a lovely country, and there's no better way to see it than from the cab of a delica!)

Luxury imports is now in Ontario... I'll warn you ahead of time, they aren't cheap, but then as far as I can tell, nobody brings in higher quality vehicles. They really do seem to be a case of you get what you pay for. Check out the forum:

dealer-feedback-beefs-and-bouquets-61/

The posts can be colourful but it ought to give you an idea of what happens in the Delica world as far as purchasing is concerned. Amazing Autos, Japanoid & Maximum Overdrive I understand are quite reputable.

There is something about these vans that's for sure, but then I'm preaching to the choir.

your advice is excellent as usual.

Yes Crushers, i did have a head crack on the Coquihalla, this is why I ALSO recommend in my other posts to check certain parts of the vehicle before doing a long drive home like that.

If you buy from a reputable dealer they will do all that maintenance for you before you start your drive.

Maintenance is maintenance, you can fail to do it at any point from the time it gets off the boat to the end of the time you own the vehicle, and the results can be just as bad either way. In fact I seem to remember that I'm not the only one to destroy a Delica engine, something about you forgetting to put oil back in when servicing a newly imported Delica? I'm sure that didn't cause anyone any inconvenience at all...

even if the dealer does all the maintainence issues can show up on the road.
maybe you should adjust your post to show, everytime someone reads it, that you HAD an issue. not everyone bothers reading all your posts.

and yes, there was an issue. i did not hide the fact from anyone. it also cost me just shy of $7000 to fix the issue for Jonathan.

My point exactly. Everything we do in life entails risks, you could kill your engine on a drive down the street to the store, on a long vacation far from home, or yes, on your first trip home. If the dealer did the appropriate maintenance, than this is no different than any other road trip, and the risk is no higher either.

Do you post in every one of your posts that you blew an engine too? why should I? I post solid advice, but I can't download all of my knowledge on every subject in to every post.

Nor have I hidden my troubles from anyone, in fact they are detailed extensively on this forum, as is the fact that my importer paid for everything, and fixed the problem for me. (including my airfare home when I couldn't drive back!)

I still stand by my recommendation that driving is my preferred option, after my first delica was repaired I went back to the coast to pick it up and drive it home (even though the dealer offered to ship it for free!) Later on I drove that same delica all the way to montreal an back. I also picked up my most recent delica on the coast and drove it home.

Contact Michael at RightDrive.ca They have super clean vehicles there. I just recently purchased my Pajero from them. Tell Michael that Bigfoot's owner sent you and you should be on your way.
