It took 2 days, but we finally got them done.
Nico did the cutting and I did all the sewing.
Our Delica feels like a little house now :)

What kind of hangers did you use and where did you get them. It looks great.

We used Levolor Traverse Rod Carriers (6 per package) from Home Depot in their window covering section.
They work great! :)

Hi Naomi, Wow! Nicest sewing job on Delica curtains that I have ever seen!. Luv the fabric, and matching cushions are a great idea, havent seen that on any other Delica.

Curtain replacement is a topic that comes up often in our Deli-Meats. Can you post a long essay on this, as many people want to know. ie did u put some pleats in, or just flat fabric panels. Those little white plastic clips holding the top edge of the fabric -- are they sewn onto the fabric, or is it a pinch clip. Did you put any stoppers in the curtain track to prevent the curtain clips rattling while driving? Your comment about the rod carriers -- did you not use the normal Delica curtain tracks? If not, why not, and all the other questions. Please.

My wife has a whole bunch of Hawaiian print fabric that she wants to make into curtains for the van, but any advice you have from how you did yours- they really look awesome- would be a huge help!

Sweet tip - thanks!

So we picked these up, and they do fit (quite snugly). We found that the best trick for inserting them in the track was to use a #8 (might have been #10) hex bit on a screw driver and to spread the track slightly at one point, working the glides onto the track one at a time. You can do this without permanently bending or scratching the tracks, or damaging the glides.

The first panel ("prototype") of our curtains are done and we're quite pleased with the result.

The curtains are awesome + think would love to put some curtains up in my own. Not sure i would go for the chicken print but the idea of some nice, bright ones would be ace.

I am willing to barter for Deli help in exchange for custom curtains! heheh

I took further inspiration from Fexlboi's old post http://www.delica.ca/forum/replacing-curtains-2955-15.html and hung the prototype today - hooks on top, magnets (sewn in) on the bottom.

The other panels are done; just fitting and figuring out the final widths, folds and magnet locations. I'll take photos in the sun later.


Note I overlapped the frame post and the magnet holds the curtain to the door frame. I fit it this way as it blocks the window completely and I can bundle up the curtains in such a way as to not obscure the left-side windows while driving.
