i am planning a trip to sayulita mexico and environs leaving before Xmas. anybody else gonna be down that way this winter?

if wishes were horses, beggars would ride! Maybe next year, still paying for last years trip!

Lucky You ! this is our favorite place in MX.We would love to do this trip in the not so distant future.Have a great trip and have a soft taco and bucket of suds at Captain Pablos on the beach for us !

Sounds great... Are you heading all that way on WVO. WE are planning a trip to California, and are going to have to find sources of oil along the way.... Let me know if you come across sources, and good luck on your travels.

i am using the internet to network with folks, coops, and filling stations along the way to source WVO. so far im good to portland, but i dont yet have anything south of there lined up.

i wonder is there buckets of wvo sitting around in mexico?

This is awesome. I am sad to say and happy for you that you are doing this trip. There were four of us heading down to Sayulita as of a month ago in the Delica but now, because of the money thing and a third parties buddy passes, the rest of the group decided to fly so its a bust. But we will be down there untill Dec 6 I believe. I am envious. Good luck and peace on your journey.

as for the money thing, i am hoping to spend very little naturally. ive been networking with people along the way who can help with WVO fills. i plan to do a whole lot of camping to keep the accommodation costs down. ill be buying food in markets to prepare at the campsite, or eating where real mexican people eat and not so much at the gringo restaurants.

when you return charles, let me know where you stayed anbd what you did for fun!

Have you thought of hauling a small trailer full of WVO to get you through the US ?

Just something mickeymouse enough to carry it safely but not cost much.

Uhh, I read that as "jamming out", "whinging", "doesn't want to go now", rather than "passing" as in death - I hope so anyway. Too bad you'll miss out on the driving adventure, but I bet you have a great trip all the same. And at least you for sure won't have any deli-breakdowns-in-the-depths-of-Mexico to report!!

A trailer capable of hauling 1000 liters of WVO would almost pay for it's self, though the drive there with 2000lbs plus of WVO would require a sturdy trailer with brakes. Said trailer, would get a good resale value too. Almost worth the slower drive down.

hmm, you know i have thought of it. and this discussion prompted me to think perhaps i could craigslist the trailer in a town in the southern US so its sold before i get there....

i have been networking some and got some oil lined up as far as eugene i think.
i have to figure out a reasonably low tech filtering and dewatering setup though for mexico...

im not sure i wanna drag a trailer around all over hell and back. ive also heard rumours about laws against traveling with WVO in california.

If you get pulled over, it's just cooking oil for a big party.

Nobody "passing away" so to speak just opting for the cheeper less adventurous option. Which I can't blame them for doing but yah its too bad but you're right no possible breakdown situations.

So its Yukon for next year....fingers crossed

Afteroil what are the dates you'll be in Sayulita? We may have some cheap accomodation to share...

were leaving mid december, with no exact itinerary, other than point the bull bars towards sayulita. we'll be camping in the van or tent most of the time, but accommodation might be nice once in a while!
