Driving around the world - help in Canada
If you can make it back to Western Canada, I highly recommend CVI in RIchmond/Vancouver. There are also several JDM shops in Calgary, but can't recommend one there. I follow you guys on Facebook, BTW. Nice work!

Re: L400 injection pump rebuild
After I get my current pump removed, I may be into having it rebuilt just so I have a spare on hand.

Re: L400 injection pump rebuild
From what I understand, for the L400s there are two pumps - a manual pump on the G1 (<1997) and an electronic pump on the G2 <(>1997). The manual pump on the G1 vans is highly prone to failure, while the G2 pump is more reliable. The main difference is, the G1 manual pump can be rebuilt and recalibr...

Re: L400 engine mileage
No idling (or otherwise running at 11000 rpm. Got it! Thanks for the insight, Falco. The warming up part is something I'm not so good at, as I'm often running late or at the verge of being late. It's bad especially in winter here in the Kootenays. I hit the highway shortly after starting, so the eng...

Re: L400 injection pump rebuild
On my estimate NW fuel put 13 hours of labour at $121/hour. That includes the time to pull the pump apart, source parts and do otherwise do the estimate itself. Thaat price doesn't include the re/re, because I got a used pump from Coombs. So about another $400 or $500 to have the bugger installed!

Re: L400 injection pump rebuild
Good news is that from what I've read the Gen 2 fuel pumps are much less prone to failure than the Gen 1 pumps!

L400 engine mileage
After dropping a significant amount of cash recently on my '94 L400 with 180,xxx km on it, I have been wondering what kind of mileage I can expect to get out of my engine. Generally I know diesels last longer than gas engines and it's not uncommon for them to go to 400,000 km or more if properly mai...

Re: L400 injection pump rebuild
No prob. Notice that you have a '99, which has a different, electronic pump. I mentioned that pump to them when chatting and they said no one in North America has the right equipment to calibrate it properly!

Re: URGENT: Advice about L400 injection pump rebuild
Just got my official estimate back from Northwest Fuel - $1800 plus tax for a compete rebuild on a used pump I bought from Coombs. That includes calibration and a 12 month unlimited km warranty. They apparently have to order some of the parts from Singapore, which will take 2 to 4 weeks to come in.

Fuel pump follies - Or how to diaper a Delica?
So I took my used pump to Northwest Fuel Injection today and it looks like they're roughly sticking to their $1800 or so amount. That's a bit of a kick in the financial pants, and now I have to drive around for probably a month with a van leaking fuel. (I have to drive back to the Kootenays and then...

Re: URGENT: Advice about L400 injection pump rebuild
Thanks Falco and Pajero. I was leaning toward the injection shop, and after hearing about Pajero's experience that's likely what I'll do. Particularly when you live so far away from all the parts and shops as I do, I want to make sure I don't have any problems! But hopefully it ends up being less th...

L400 injection pump rebuild
Hey All, I'm in the midst of a trip from Nelson to the Island and Lower Mainland, and my injection pump started leaking pretty seriously along the way. I stopped in at Coombs and had a bunch of work done, but they didn't have a used pump they felt comfortable installing. So I got a used pump from th...

Re: Kootenay Veg Oil Sources
Hey. I live near Nelson and am considering buying a filtering setup off someone. If I do, I may be able to sell some. I believe $.60 per litre is the going rate for filtered WVO.

They have them in stock at their shop and just install them straight up. Here's the link - http://www.ccautos.ca/exhaust/
