Alternator electrical woes a potential fix
I just replaced my dead batteries today at Edmonds Battery in Burnaby. Great service! But still discovered that my alternator wasn't producing much juice. It seemed to keep the battery charged but wouldn't register anything more than 12v on the batteries when the van was running. I did some looking ...

Re: Glow plug relay stopped clicking.
That should work fine. I'm not sure, but I think the second relay uses the resistor bank so you will only get 6V which may not be to fast but it would be safer. The relay connection is the best way to go!! Uh, well I installed the manual switch, tried to start it, glow plugs click but nothing but a...

Re: Glow plug relay stopped clicking.
Are you going to use 6 or 12 V glow plugs? If your using the 6V ones make sure you don't have a maintained switch or you can have real problems! I use a momentary switch and an OFF delay timer so they turn off automatically and I can also use them a few times if necessary once the van is running. G...

Re: Glow plug relay stopped clicking.
I think Butch @ CVI had access to someone that repaired ECU's @ one time. Not sure if he still does. I also have a unit that worked when I changed to the Hyundai engine. I use a 12V manual system now so don't need it. If you want it let me know. Larry Thanks Larry! I jumped the van yesterday direct...

Re: Glow plug relay stopped clicking.
Turns out it might not be relays but ECU, anyone have a contact for Daniel at W1NGS electronics anymore? His website is out of service. Or if any member has had experience with another repair shop in BC for ECU's please let me know. Thanks!

Glow plug relay stopped clicking.
Hey all I noticed today my glow plug relay stopped clicking. At least I think its the relays. Funny enough the van starts just fine in our cold weather. But I'm thinking I should replace my relays as they are looking very rusty looking which is never good for the electrics. After looking at amayama ...

Re: L300 or L400?
From what I've read L400's can have issues with rust on the frames. If you're in the market for one be sure to really check the cross members for rust.

Faulty gas gauge: a reason.
I always wondered why my gas gauge would drop to E when the tank ran below 1/2. The broken wires are the telltale sign. I'm gonna try rewind the thing. Anyone know what gauge of magnet wire something like this takes?

Batteries good? I just replaced my 8 year old ones a few days ago and it starts significantly faster around 0 degrees. If your batteries are good it won't hurt to clean up the battery terminals as well. Lots of corrosion develops in our wet weather. Good luck.

Lower ball joint removal tool
Hey guys, gotta replace my lower ball joints. Anyone have a tried and tested ball joint tool they can provide a picture or link of? I'm finding a lot of different tools on the internet and wanna be sure I grab the right one before I rip apart my van on the street. No pickle fork recommendations plea...

Dual piston slider pins.
Had time to revisit this today and took apart the right front caliper. Pistons are good, nice and shiny and seem to slide well. One of the piston boots was bulging out for some reason before I took them apart. I was afraid it would be pinched when it touched the brake pad. After refitting everything...

Dual piston slider pins.
I think I started to look into it because it was hard to stop the van. More pressure needed on the pedal than I recall. I upgraded to dual piston to make it easier. I think I'll have to replace the right caliper as the slider pins are so pitted they are making reinstall hard. Maybe I didn't install ...

Thanks Growler. I'm not running genuine Mitsubishi calipers so not sure the OEM rebuild kit will work. Maybe I'll have to get some used OEM calipers and rebuild them.
