Parting out L300 in Nova Scotia

We're getting ready to move out west and can't take our parts van with us. 91 Super Exceed, was great mechanically (other than the alternator) but ended up on its roof in a ditch and so became a parts van :-( We've stripped a lot of the interior that is going in to our "new" 91 Super Excee...

Re: Finally seeing them in NS

my suggestion: don't bother trying to get parts from the dealer! LOL I've had a Deli out here for 3 years - other than the general maintenance parts (filters, etc) that I can get from Napa/PartSource/wherever, I just order my parts from Coombs Country. The guys there are great to deal with, very kno...

Re: Illegal fog lights?

By driving light I mean the extra high power pencil beam lights for incresed frontal vision, not low intensity running lights such as day time running lights which I guess you are thinking of. Not very many, if any, new cars come equipped with driving lights. As far as I know, the HTA doesn't diffe...

Re: Illegal fog lights?

Yeah in Canada foglights can only operate with low beams, they cannot operate with high beams (and they cannot operate alone without headlamps unfortunately). Driving lights can operate only with high beams. um, 'fraid not. look at any new vehicle out there that has driving lights. The driving ligh...

Re: Can't shift out of park (automatic transmission)

Ha! Have it figured out! Big thanks to Glen at Coombs for pointing us in the right direction. I'd try to explain, but it would sound like "the plastic thingy in the shifter was jammed up... the plastic thingy that the cable from the shifter thingy is broken..." I really did learn a lot ton...

Re: Can't shift out of park (automatic transmission)

Thanks, tried the pushing-forward thing, didn't work. looked at the other thread you mentioned - wish a pic had been posted! A little confused by the instruction to pull cable "towards the hood"... What hood??? but going outside now to look for a "white plastic....thingy" under t...

Can't shift out of park (automatic transmission)

Help! Argh... Van started this morning no problem. Foot on brake pedal, go to shift into reverse and not only can I not shift, I can't even depress the little button on the side of the shifter that unlocks the shifter to get out of park. So, what stops that from being depressed? I figure the shifter...

Re: Starting troubles...

Neutral safety switches can wear out. It might work sometimes, but eventually it wont at all. You could bypass it (bad idea except emergency) or replace it. Okay, why is it a bad idea? Other than the obvious - that you could start the vehicle while it was in gear if you're not paying attention? Wil...

argh - help! shifter module / neutral safety switch??

I've combed the archives for this and haven't found anything that actually gives instructions as to how to get this part off the vehicle or how to fix it (clean it) if possible. I had this part go 2 years ago. Replaced it, now having the same problem, and am on a waiting list to get the part. Proble...

glow plug fuse?

Delica wouldn't start this morning - no "click, click" of the glow plugs turning on and off. Turns over beautifully, but no heat to start her up :-( I'm hoping it's just a fuse, but can't find anything to tell me where the fuse would be... any ideas?

Better tell that to Volkswagen, because their diesels have chokes, and I can assure you it does make a difference in cold starts (-10C and below).

Re: Alcohol-water injection for Turbo diesels Good cheap HP/TQ

Guamdoc, I have spent way too much time reading this thread and trying to research it. Here are the issues which come to mind, that I invite you to address: this is proven technology that works and is in use on vehicles all over the world with proven results I have not seen any proof of anything oth...
