Camshaft removal
Hi there,
Has anyone removed their camshaft on a 4m40? I'm looking to see if I have a bent lifter shim just wondering if there are any tips or tricks involved. Looks pretty straight forward though. Any help or comments are appreciated. Thanks

Re: CVI's 7th Annual Appreciation Day on May 7
Sounds like fun. Anyway you could look at my L400 on 02/May/2016? I have a new ticking sound coming from my head. Thanks so much. I will try and be there for the Saturday.

Transmission oil
Anyone here ever use Red Line DT4 ATF in their L400 Automatics? It says that you can use it for Diamond SP-III vehicles.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: brakes ... blah
Hi guys, I'm going to do my front brakes for the first time and wanted to try and cross reference some part numbers. Do you guys have the numbers for the front rotors, seals, and the caliper pins? thanks

Re: Not starting
Hi guys, thought I should update you on what's going on. I went over to my brothers to give him a hand and we found the problem pretty quick. A disconnected wire at the battery was the problem. One of the connectors was pretty hidden, in my brothers defense, but as soon as we connected it she starte...

Re: Not starting
Still no luck. My brother's thinking that maybe it's either the fusible link or the starter solenoid. I may go over there tomorrow to give him a hand.

Re: Not starting
Anyone know which wires he can jump across the fusible link to test if that's the problem? He says none of the wires look burnt but I'm not sure what's under the black cover if it's actual fuses or what? Here are the pics he sent me http://i.imgur.com/0cVRXT0.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/Gert5XR.jpg?1 h...

Re: Not starting
Thanks for all the help guys we'll keep posting as info becomes available. Haven't spoken with my brother yet today. I kind of don't think it would be the fuel cut-off solenoid. Wouldn't it at least turn over if there wasn't 12V at that solenoid?

Re: Not starting
The glow plug system doesn't stop the starter /cranking. Well that's good to hear. I wasn't sure about that. Well he hasn't been able to jump the ignition switch yet. Kinda think that's the problem. It is weird though that there was no precursor to this happening. It just all of a sudden wouldn't c...

Re: Not starting
Hi there, This is delicawannabe2's brother. I've been doing some trouble shooting with him over the phone and this is what we've found so far. 1. He can jump the starter solenoid and the van turns over. It will not start even when the ignition switch is in the start position (key turned as if you ar...

Re: Hard start on 96 l400
Great thanks for the tip. I left it for 24 hours and it started fine. Guess it was just a little air in the fuel. I was pretty scared at the time.

Glow plugs and bus bar done this past summer. Wasn't very cold but really really wet. Wonder if some electrical components got wet.

Hard start on 96 l400
I had a bucking issue for the first time last night. My 96 l400 always started up no problem in any condition. I've had it for about 7 months now. Last night however it didn't start at all for a while. It would just chug during cranking and then after 15 minutes of on and of cranking, crank for 5-10...

Re: 94 l400 bucking when cold
Well the new injectors are in and so far so good. Totally smooth starts. No hiccups, misses or bucking. Whoo-hoo!!! :-D So after 7 months of trying to figure out this issue, the main lessons learned are: 1) Dealer said glow plugs were replaced with 'good' ones. They weren't new though. Dealer then ...
