Oil Light at Startup

Could be any of these really: faulty oil sender, broken spring, worn oil pump, worn bearings overall, oil is too thin, oil level too low or pickup screen is partially clogged. Mine does it too here and there but I don't worry too much, it just means your oil is taking a few moments to get up to ope...

16x7 Wheels on an L300?

Looks great. I can't believe you don't rub! I figured for sure it'd rub with a 16x8 and 0 offset, especially with 235s. Would love to see more pics if you have them at some point.

Oil Light at Startup

My oil lights stays on for about five seconds after starting my 4D56-powered '89. However, if I rev the engine just a bit, the light goes away. Normal or is there something possibly going on? (Or am I an overprotective parent? :-D )

16x7 Wheels on an L300?

I'm running 16x8 0 offset wheels with 235/85 cooper at3's. the 16x8 and 0 offset fills the fenders perfect and it feels more stable to me now on highways/windy roads, they're stealth custom series f5's, they're super light so acceleration didnt seem to suffer. I did have to trim my front fenders a ...

Mitsubishi 75w-85 Oil (Diaqueen)

MZ320197-2.JPG My search for 75w-85 oil for my L300's manual transmission and transfer case lead me to, well, my local Mitsubishi dealer. I bought five quarts of Mitsubishi MTF 75w-85 oil. There's nowhere on the bottle that it says GL-4 or GL-5, but I would assume this would be ideal for my '89 Del...

Vinyl wrap.

I am in the exact same boat. I am also considering wrapping my L300. However, I need to take care of some rust beforehand.

We've had wrapped vehicles here at work, and they're great.

L300 Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid

Originally, I saw a thread here that stated the spec for the manual transmission and transfer case fluid is 75w85. Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere locally. However, while looking through a service manual, I see it says "75W-85W or 75W-90* conforming to API GL-4" The asterisk went t...

That one's easy. It's on the back of the instrument cluster, and is connected by a couple of wires which are easily detached.
Very good! I'll take a look at that.

L300 2.5 TD Highway RPM

Growlerbearnz wrote: So fitting 31" tyres to your manual would drop you from 3170rpm at 100kph to 2990rpm. Woo.
Cool! I plan on going with 30x9.50s as I understand 31s will rub. But I did notice at 100 kph the RPM are up there. Now to disable the darned speed warning chime ...

Insurance in Oregon

I went through Hagerty. I am paying $446 USD per year with a $1,000 deductible. State Farm didn't know how to insure it, but they want another stab at a quote. However, without a 17 digit VIN, they don't seem to know what to do. I'll be darned if they want to insure it as an '89 Mitsubishi Van, and...

Anyone else?

16x7 Wheels on an L300?

I was curious if anyone was running a 16x7 wheel with, say, 215/85/16 tires on an L300?

I'm debating to go 15x7 with 30x9.50x15 tires or 16x7 with 215/85/16 tires.

Anyone have any photos of L300s with 16s?

L300 fluids

It says oil capacity is only 3.9 liters--that must be for the 2.0 or 2.4 gas engine.

Most places (and people I have talked to about this) say it's around 6-6.5 liters for the 4D56.

air filter

Possibly a silly question, but I see K&N lists the application for the L300 (PN E-4810). Oddly, they don't list the 1989+ models. Was there a change in the airbox? (I have an '89 with the 4D56 and would love to run a K&N)
