Definitely change the water pump and all the bit under the timing cover. Be sure to clean the everything well as it probably has coolant on it. Good time to change the accessory belts as well. You could seal it with closed cell marine foam. It is used to seal hatches. I found some at a hardware store in a roll for sealing windows.
