Delica Canada | Mitsubishi Van Club | Suspension lift for L400's

You can see quite a few in Japan lifted.

I decided to do a lift kit myself that makes it simple, yet keeps the suspension close to stock.

This is a 1" lift from stock with 31" tires. It's good but 2-3" inches is better and doable. Working on it.

Will be a steel 2" spacer in between the body and the upper, rear coil brace. That way the rear suspension will work properly, ie. spring rate, spring travel.

1" drop bracket for the pan-handle bar and longer gr.8 bolts.

Front will be a torsion bar re-index and crank to level out.

My front end was sagging prior to this 1" lift. After the 1" lift (1.5 inches of upward travel to level it out), the CV / axle shaft now sits level/parallel with the front/rear axle.

Before the lift, there was negative angle on the CV/axles. After the lift, it is now normal.

You can lift the front end by torsion bar re-index/crank up to 3" inches before the CV angle just begins to show signs of steep angles (compared to a 1" lift on the L300 and the CV axle is already close to being maxed).

You can fit 31" tires with the 1-3" lift with a bit of trimming in the front depending on how wide the tires/rims are and what the rim offset/backspacing it.

Because the track width (hub to hub) is a lot wider than the L300, the same wheels that would be flush with the L300 body would stick out roughly 2" from the L400 body. Quite a big difference.

It's funny, I seem to have a really hard time judging lifts on these things, I see a picture like that and the lift looks huge, but I see pictures of Adam's L400 (with a 4" lift) and it looks barely lifted to me... don't know what it is...

either way though, considering my record with the bottom of my L300 finding solid stuff underneath, I'm certainly open to getting some more height on the L400 (nothing crazy, just want to clear that little bit extra)

The brake bias adjuster spacer block fits on the rear axle under the mounting plate for the spring on the rear bias adjuster.

When you raise the rear of the Delica, the bias adjuster thinks the vehicle has become lighter and so channels less brake force to the rear wheels, this results in front bias braking which manifests its self in nose diving at the front when braking.


Think it's important with a lift as small as 1"?

I know what you mean, I thought my lift looked pretty tame, but it tops out at just under 8'. That being said that cornering on it is still very solid, no sway, I don't think I'd wanta lift much less than this one. I can't imagine what an non-lifted L400 would be like driving on our steep property, I really need the improved departure angle the lift gives you. My L300 barely made it on some of these hill and if the ball mount was still in the hitch I'd leave a small plowed ditch on some of the slopes.

Nice van Adam but unless your hitch was mounted on the front I'm afraid your 400 will leave even more of a mark than your 300 as the back end of a LWB 400 hangs much further than a 300. Your lift should compensate though... Anyway, you got the best color!

Not up to 2".

2"+ and a spacer is needed. It's a simple block.
