glowplug bypass wiring problem

Post by jdfiegehen »

Well I'm kind of coming up with a blank here. I've wired in a momentary switch to bypass the glowplug control unit. I've gone straight off the positive on my battery to the switch, and then switch to glowplugs with an inline fuse. Everytime I try to cycle the switch I just blow the inline fuse. Do I need to wire directly into the relay so that I'm actually just changing the time that the glow plugs cycle, or should this be working for me? I'm kinda stumped on this one.
Thanks all
Jay

dude you need a relay!!! I will try to post a pic of the set up i did later on to show you. you will need a relay, some self tapping screws to mount the relay, a 12v switch, 14 guage wiring, some circle end terminals, some shrink tube or electrical tape and a new fuse to replace the one that popped on you. Look it up on youtube as well, short through the videos to find the one that best suits your needs and/or look through some older post on here too.

I'm going to try tapping into the existing relay's power and see if i can control the timing myself. Should work right?

Please Punkrawker, put some picture or a Schematic drawing with parts needed as many other L300 owners will benefits from it. My 1990, from what I know, is working with 6V glow plugs. Any additional parts I may need for my setup ?

Much Thanks

Thanks Falco but I was asking for a schematic of the Glow plug By-pass button not of the Delica.
