LHD Conversion Kit

Post by MrDuncon »

Hi all!

First of all i wish a happy and peaceful new year for my brand-mates! :-D

On the first day of 2009 when i read my favourite online magazin: speedhunters.com, and i just found a new expression: RHD to LHD Conversions Kit. It's sound good cos' as only 32% of the world’s population drive on the left and countries like mine doesn't allow RHD vehicles in the traffic :| So it can be a great solution for us.

For example in Europe the number of serviceable delis/l300s are less and less. On the other side they are ever expensive. I sold my old l300 van few month ago for 5,500 CAD ('92, petrol, with 415.000kms), two years ago i buyed it for 2,500 CAD. Furtunately now i have a newer diesel l300 with better condition. The reason of this is clear: there aren't exists any kind of 4WD van with the abilities of Delica's.

My next van maybe come from Japan 8-)

WOW! That's impressive. Specially for a petrol version. How much maintain/repairs have you done?

1994-97 - that would be the pre-facelift "airscoop" L400 Space Gear.

I considered converting Gumdrop to LHD, and concluded I would likely need an LHD L300 as a donor vehicle for the dash, steering rack, and other parts. This might end up as what several of our U.S. friends have talked about, source an LHD L300 and rebuild the shell with Delica parts. Has anybody actually done this? It could get expensive.

After acclimating to RHD, I decided it wasn't going to be worth the trouble... :-)

(your English is fine, BTW)

Hi, laura,
we do convert the rhd to LHD in the phils.
yes they have a kit for that. but what happen is that you cannot make it perfect. its different if this is original mitsubishi factory assemble.
we do produce original delica l300 left hand drive in the phils but only 2wd. no 4wd as there is no snow in the phils.
i was thinking of this before but the liability issue is the problem here in canada.
we dont have any strong case for this , if any accidental issue came up with this conversion to LHD.back home we dont have liability issue anybody could do it. no liablity issue. here its a big one.
hope this help
cheers;
mardy

I used the van for 2 years and nothin complicated: changing all of the fluids, one sealing under the crankshaft, repair the exhaust and i smashed one of the front door in an emty parking lot :? (i had a terrible headache). The car was regularly maintaned along the 16 year and it thanks for us with doing lots of hard work :-)
