Vintage 80's Toyota fans

Post by jessef »

wow. Always loved the 4runners. It's worst enemy was the rusting panels.

This is one amazing piece of vintage Toyo 4runner.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem=

1985 Toyota 4Runner SR5 5sp EFI 22RE

- Cold A/C, Cruise Control, Power Windows, moon roof with interior removable cover, all stock factory options
- The steering wheel is in perfect shape under the cover
- No cracks or blemishes on the dash
- The steering wheel is in perfect shape under the cover
- New BFG A/T tires 31x10.50x15
- New Toyota parts --> Alternator / Power Steering Pump, with receipts $850.00
- All documentation since purchased new from the dealership
- Original Bill of sale from 1985, Original title from 1985, same name on both documents, one owner
- Runs perfect
- Everything works perfectly, with exception to the original radio, might just be a fuse behind the radio, or a bad on/off switch on the radio
- Paint shines like new, no dents dings or scratches, no paint work, all original unbelievable shape
- Drivers door graphics are slightly faded, see pictures, very very minor, barely tell
- Interior is basically as new with no rips or stains, no smells, no smoke, no pets, no cracks anywhere in the plastic or dash, unique floor mats
- Roof has never been removed
- Rear window goes up and down smoothly with interior button and exterior key
- Radio antenna goes up and down with dash button
- Under body is clean and black, no cover up, black as new with no rust preventative spray
- Rear bumper has a small dent / ding ---> see pictures

- I would entertain the idea of trading this 4Runner, let me know what you have, my interests have shifted to sports cars / Sport touring motorcycles / vintage bicycles.

This truck is ready to drive anywhere in the Country, I would be willing to deliver this 4runner for expenses and flight home
Only one in the U.S.A. in this condition, museum quality show truck

Love these things. This one is truly in amazing shape which is pretty rare. Although...

I bought one for my daughter a couple weeks ago. It too was in amazing shape until she got ahold of it.

We are the original owners. Less than a KM on it. She is 2 and I want her to play with cool stuff so daddy treats her to a matchbox toy every now and then. Don't know who was more excited about buying this one though.

Until you drive it down to California....and figure out how bad they ride and how small that cab is ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....never regretted selling mine to buy the Delica...never looked back once. The L300 has more power then the 22r which is hard to believe as they are both power houses :-D

4Runners are fugly. The truck that got me started down this particular fetish was the 86 Toyota pickup.

Asking wayy to much good shape or not. Its too nice to scratch and too old to drive.

I would like to get my paws on a built and locked first gen for around 5-7000 and have been quite patient. They come up now and again. If importing a modded truck from the states wasn`t such a pain there are lots to choose from.

I don't mean to be a thread Hi-Jacker but delicioso got me reminissing as well, and since this is a thread for Toyo-Lovers I thought I would share my favorites. My first car ever was a 79 Celica GT that had more rust than actual metal, so with my dad's expertise we turned it into the ultimate high school beater. For fun we would leave the windows down when we went to 7-11 so we could climb in on our way back! Complete with confederate flag -stars made from an old 5 star wiskey star from the bottle! Bought it for $500 and drove the absolute crap out of it and sold it for $1000. I miss that car.

From there I owned 2 other Celicas, both 86's but I rolled the first one. This is another one my dad and I transformed from a rusted turd to a pretty looking rusted turd. We even transplanted a newer engine into it, but it is for that reason I will NEVER ask my dad's help on the engine of my Deli as he has something against "Japanese Hands" and how apparently small they are 8-) (my dad is pretty old school). I also saw a screw driver fly about 100 yards down the alley with my dad exclaiming "Robertson screws should be banned!". Tensions were high but we did it!

I have always had a soft spot for the old Toyotas. I can only think of one bad memory (rolling a celica in a snowstorm) and countless good memories. This truck featured in this thread would have been the ultimate ride in 85 (or the Back to the Future pick up). Now my deli is.

I got my mom into a 93 Toyota Tercel. It has lived most of it's life in Whistler up and down the sea to sky highway in every condition possible. Never stuck once. Original engine. 398,000km's. Basic maintenance. oil changes, fluids. That little car is amazing. She won't drive the L300, L400, Pajero or Safari over this in the snow because it just goes without stopping. Can't argue with that ! I think her little Tercel will outlast any JDM I'll own.

Reliable car and good in snow but come on Jesse, I hope this thread doesn't end with a 93 Tercel! :-D

Also, at the rate you go through JDM's I think most cars would last longer. :? :-D

lol, if that's the case, you should be able to convince your mom into a jdm corolla carib AWD with CDL!

man, i still miss my wife's tercel, sold it to a buddy, there was nothing wrong with it and only 200K kms, we didin't really need it and fam was growing and hard to get in/out with baby seats/little ones... but awesome and efficient little car!

would love me an ae86 rear wheel drive corolla too, just b/c of that japanse drifting movie, lol.

Impressed that there are people that can cover 150,000 km's (94,700 M) and keep a 27 years old truck looking that new. What kind of person can do that?

Also what is wrong with removing the roof? 4R's were very cool when you could remove the roof in the summer.

Toy-lovers unite!

My 84 Toy van bought the year I graduated year school, special order for a cargo model with full windows and 5 speed, to allow for some basic camperization. Sadly parted with it in 1997 after 360,000 km's. Died on the road only twice, a faulty regulator close to home and a failed diff in the southern most part of Oaxaca province.

My old 2002 Civic went 249,000km and still looked mint. I don't think it's hard to drive that far and have it looking good, the 27 years is another story though. I've gone 21 and I certainly don't look perfect, I shudder to think what I'd do to a vehicle in that amount of time (I haven't owned a single one that hasn't been in some form of accident). :-D

To get this back to Toyota's though... I want this...
