are fuel lubrication additives needed when burning B5?

I see recommendations to use a diesel fuel additive to improve lubrication in the fuel system due to low sulpher content of contemporary fuel. I read also that biodiesel has improved lubrication qualities compared to 100 percent petro diesel, so if I'm burning B5, which granted contains only a small fraction of veg oil, is a lubricant still recommended?

b5 is higher in lubricant than pump fuel but still not enough to cover your needs, but some people say its enough, for me I put in my extra lubricant. OH and if your running b5 or any bio, make sure you change all your rubber lines and the seals in your injection pump. the bio makes the rubber seals start to "sluff" and bad things happen.

I'm hearing that a low B grade such as this doesn't make mush of your rubber, but I'm open to comments.

Agreed. As for the additional lube quality of the BioD, it seem prudent to continue to use an additive.

BTW I made my first fill-up of B5 tonight @ $1.00 litre.

well I for one would be interested in hearing how the b5 works for you without a lubricant if your feeling up being the guinnipig. Oh I filled up for .98/l at esso on douglas they sell diesel now.

Actually I was saying that I will continue to use additional lube. I'm not going to change the rubber lines over just yet. Will monitor them though for sponginess.

Im thinking of doing an experiment, maybe buy some b5 and put it into a small jerry can with a circulating pump, even just hook it up to the solar panel to circulate it. and see how is holds up after a month,2 months.... just cut off an inch a month and split the line to see how it looks inside. and maybe put some 0-rings into a jar soaking in b5 to simulate the inside of the injection pump, would have to be kept out of any light to get a proper result.
Ya, I think Im going to do that, and post up a pic or two as a month and then more time goes by.
