I just put a deposit on a 1996 L400 Space Gear with Crystal Lite roof and V6 gas. Looking forward to tinkering with it.

...and here she is already up at Mount Seymour while everyone else is getting stuck in the parking lot. :-D

and despite being an SWB, it seems quite roomy inside to me

Now I just have to figure out how to rip out the complicated Royal Exceed stereo option in it so I can put my own Pioneer head unit in there...looking forward to the challenge!

Thanks! There's just some little fiddly bits that I need to fix on her like a cracked centre dash surround (already found a replacement at the wrecker's) and getting rid of the awful stereo with a billion wires in it. Other than that, she's really clean inside and out and has 130,000km with the timing belt already done once.

Welcome to the delica owner world. I have a 95 lwb royal exceed diesel. It looks almost identical plus a hood scoop. Mine also had that crazy radio. Installing a new radio was easy. Ignore all the crazy wiring and just use the four wires of one plug. Batter power, ignition power, ground and headlight signal. Thats all you need. I run all new wiring to the speakers and all new speakers. Only one of the old speakers was still working. I installed a pioneer double DIN head unit. It took a little while to make it fit but now works perfectly.
