Hello!

Long time lurker, first time poster (and Delica owner!) We're just on our way to Portland to pick up our 1993 Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper. It's a pretty unique vehicle and just arrived from Japan maybe 2 months ago. We've found precious little information out there about these so hoping somebody here might shed some light on it, and I'm sure we'll have plenty of questions. Will post a more thorough introduction (with more photos) once we get it back to Seattle and cleaned up a bit. Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Hi guys! That is a great looking camper. I have just purchased a 1998 Delica JB-470! I haven't seen it yet  it arrives on July 17th, 2019 a month from now.

I too have found very little information. One place to search around is yahoo.jp their I found a good how to video of a Delica JB-470. I've poked around Vantech's website but haven't found any manuals or anything although I have found related parts for the camper for sale.

Please let me know if you find any useful resources and any general comments on your experiences with your new camper would be greatly appreciated. I have some recourse before receiving my camper at the loading docks in Japan. If there is something I should look at specifically that you've found out it would be appreciated to know.

Here is a photo album of mine:

Looks good for the interior! But I'm not seeing any photos of the underside. Have you had it checked for rust or had the engine serviced/looked at yet?

Khrolar, I’m sitting in my camper in my driveway!

So it’s been a love hate experience so far. Overal I have a good machine. Rust is minimal, it looks exceptionally clean for something from 1998. The engine is in fine shape and performed well on the 1100km trip home from Vancouver. Timing belt, seals, pullies etc were done as part of purchase.

The bad part is I’ve some work for the out of province. Two lower ball joints that I don feel comfortable tackling myself after looking a those massive torsion bars holding the lower a arm up. Also she doesn’t start super nice when it’s cold... cranks a bit too long and doesn’t want to idle.spent some money on new glow plugs and fuel injectors today. Also the rear seat broke... this was quiet upsetting but I’m getting the cost covered for a new one or a used frame so I’m feeling better about it now.

I have one oil leak on the back of engine. It’s the line from the block to the turbo. Right where it comes out of the block the threads are weeping. So Teflon I’m thinking.

Big trip planned to Oregon at the end of September.
