87' Pajero - Straya'

Post by .:FoRuM56:. »

Well I picked this beaut' up for 1800 bucks, she's a non-intercooled 2.5 auto imported from Japan to Australia (weird, I know!).
Requires a head gasket. Other than that, a solid unit!

Within' 24 hours I started purchasing parts to get it up to snuff and aid in my travels. Currently stationed in Perth, WA.

This includes:
Head Gasket
Studs
Timing-Balance Belts
Tensioners
Rad Hoses
Valve Cover Gaskets

Along with:
Full Length Roof Rack
Hi-lift Jack
Air-compressor
2.5mx2m Awning
20" LED Light Bar

And two of these beaut's! I've always wanted to try them.
One for das boost! And the other for EGT's

I plan on stacking both in the center column where the incline-meter will have once sat.

My biggest fear is automatic transmissions, So once I'm operational it's going in for a COMPLETE flush. Also ditched the side steps...Because race car.

Other issue to take care of would be the ghetto glow plug switch. The previous owners wired the plugs into the fog light switch, although creative, a bad $#&*$ idea for a switch that can be bumped and locks on. Get that shit outta' there! So instead I'll wire my 20" light bar through the factory switch and place a momentary pushbutton somewhere suitable.

Cheers!

Sweet! I love the 80s Pajeros. The boxy-ness is really tough looking. Good find!

Awesome truck man! I love how much character these old SUVs have compared to new ones these days.

Also do you know what that little badge is on the lower right corner of the grille? Looks almost like the award badges they hand out at car shows :-)

Yeah, the little badge says "Japanese Automotive Federation" like a plaque. I've seen a few imported MKI's around here with the same badge.

Now I need a transmission flush, and a few other bugs sorted...This thing has high EGT's so I'll need to look into that.
