I believe that we got to the "fun part". I will only go as far as is safe. Honestly I'd be pleased just to explore the area we did a bit more and see whats beyond.

I suppose there's always those who want to explore as much as possible, and those who want to push the limits of their rigs as much as possible. Whatever floats your boat.

Heck, I'll just be happy to get outta Dodge for a couple of days. I lost count of the number of little explorable side-trails off the main road. I bet you could drive around up there for a week solid and rarely hit the same stretch of road twice.

I'm beginning to see a GPS purchase in my future... 8-)

[quote="RichD"]Here's some video of the really hard parts way past where we got to last week.

The hill climbs look fine but around the 2min mark is where I think the Delicas give up. 8-)

The Roverlanders, who maintain the trail for 4WDABC, have built a bypass bridge for that mud hole. It never use to be bad until some boggers thought digging it up was a good idea. So, unless some hoons have pulled the bridge down or burnt it, you should have an option.

BTW, all BC Delica.ca members should consider joining 4WDABC: http://www.4wdabc.ca/. They and other member 4WD clubs maintain a number of important trails and sites. Check out the monthly maintenance runs out East Harrison, usually every second Saturday in a month.

Four Wheel Drive Association of BC Goals and Objectives
* To uphold the established Four Wheeler's Code of Ethics
* To promote recreational activities that involve the off pavement use of four wheel drive vehicles, encourage multiple land use and allow access to the back-country
* To promote responsible attitudes toward the use of public and private lands
* To protect our natural resources and the heritage of our land through conservation practices so people may enjoy them for generations to come
* To encourage land management agencies to develop more areas and trails for multiple uses and to deter land closures
* To participate in and support civic activities that will benefit the community, and to enhance the public image of recreational four wheeling and it's enthusiasts
* To promote cooperation and friendship among four wheel drive clubs and individual four wheel drive owners in the province of British Columbia
* To Protect the rights of an individual by providing support for the united voice of responsible four wheelers
* To maintain a uniform set of safety rules and regulations
* To disseminate information, including pending legislation that may be detrimental to the interests of four wheel drive owners
* To inform and educate our members and the public in wise and sensible use of four wheel drive vehicles

This file has all the waypoints and reveals the entire trail in detail. Open with Mapsource, nroute or other GPS mapping program...

This is definitely a go. The general consensus is Friday evening; I might go up Friday AM and lock in a campsite.

Camp and meet spot details to follow.

There is no try, only do... or do not!

Quite a few people have expressed their intention to make an appearance at the Whipsaw this weekend. A couple have backed out due to mechanical/personal challenges but more than twice as many have emailed me in their stead. Some would rather stay home and bake cookies. We shall see who is made of what when we see who shows up on the mountain...

Here, my friends, is the itinerary:

- Friday afternoon, check in at the Eastgate fuel station/diner. If you are the first to get there, leave a note on the pay phone please. Following peeps please leave your mark. (If you are approaching from the East, don't bother driving to Eastgate.)

- Friday night "low camp" is just a few clicks up the FSR at N49.28672 W120.67562. I know that some wanted to camp high on Friday, but there are too may late arrivals and I want them to be able to meet on the Whipsaw. This is the meeting spot until 9AM Saturday.

- Saturday night "high camp" is going to be near the "Holding Cabin w/ Grave" - N49.2983969 W120.8444714. This is also going to be the lunch meeting spot on Saturday.

When you arrive at the cross, look for the camp some ways behind the cabin. Markers will be left on the cabin.

- If you arrive in Manning Park too late even to attempt entry into the FSR , you will find an easy camp spot by the road just past Eastgate Fuel/Diner at this location. If you camp here, be prepared to hit the road befor 8AM if you want to meet us at low camp by 9AM.

- The Saturday lunch meeting spot will be decided on site and a note will be left at the Holding cabin. If you are coming in on Saturday morning early, also check the lower camp spot for a note.

Before you drive up, please familiarize yourself with the Whipsaw FSR. Do not take the Lamont, do not veer right onto the Corral Creek road. The Coastal Mountains maps are crap for this trail. Look at this link.

If our second night is that close to the first night are we even able to make the hole loop?
Also there is no mention of additional fuel. I assume everyone brings their own extra fuel cans? 20-40l?

It is extremely unlikely that we could do the whole loop in one weekend, and I am quite certain that the way we go in is the way we get out.

Depending on what happens on the ground, we can decide to push in further but we need an accessible meeting point established so that we can leave a message or go get the stragglers. That is why the meeting places are both within reach of the main road.

Nonetheless Felix's question has merit. We should know who to expect on Saturday. If you haven't emailed me yet - radagenais at gmail dot com - or call/text seven-seven-eight, nine-eight-seven, four-three-three-five please do so before Friday so I can have a head count. Cheers. Please mention your intended departure time and your contact info.

Fill your tank with diesel before going in. I would highly recommend bringing an additional fuel can.

Even more importantly, make sure you have enough food and water and warm clothes.
