Mini meet-n-greet

Post by cinjay »

Erebus and I are going to meet up. Instead of just the two of us, and with all the recent Delica purchases in Calgary (me included). We thought we should just plan a mini meet-n- greet. I was thinking of Peter’s Drive Inn for a fairly central location. I like that they are RHD friendly, and have good milkshakes to boot :-D We think that Friday the 12th @ 6:00-7:00pm sounds about right. I will be bringing the kids with me (5 & 3yr old), so anyone with little one’s… Bring them along.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,

Jason

I love Peter's, and it's definitely one of the things I miss about Calgary. Every time I drive through town for a visit I make sure I stop at Peter's. Hope you have a good turnout.

I'll be there, probably with my co-pilot. For those who aren't sure where Peters' is, the address is 219, 16th Ave NE, on the south side of the road. Their website, with link to a map, is http://www.petersdrivein.com/

Thanks for arranging a mini-meet! It sounds like fun. I'll talk it over with Joanne but I suspect we will be there.

Erebus

Thx for the invite... I'm still Delica-less so going to an event like this will make me

I'll go to the next one when my Deli is running again...

Thx,

Fabio :M

At the moment I plan to attend, however there's a risk that will be vetoed by my significant other as I seem to remember her yabbering about something or other happening that night... but she didn't actually put it on the calender, so we shall see...

btw... I didn't realize it until you said so, but I do believe Peters is the only drive through I can think of with windows on both sides....

Calgary and region is getting crowded, I didn't realize we had so many delis in the area. I sent a PM to 17 regional Deli owners that I could think of, to let them know about this meet. Didn't realize we had that many. So far, I've received 5 regrets, and 5 yeses (includin cinjay and myself). Better than a kick in the head. Hopefully, some of those who haven't responded yet will be able to make it.

I remember when Christine arranged the "Lower Mainland Mini Meet" which transpired at a McDonald's Car park at Boundary & Lougheed on the Vancouver/ Burnaby boundary (hence the name) ~ there were about twelve responses on the thread, four of which were bowing out. we figured roughly eight would turn up. When I arrived (15 minutes late) there were around 22 Delicas lined up in two rows. So I guess what I am saying is it is really hard to say... smiles.

Yes, we will have to get everyone all lined up if we can. (You will be critiqued on your parking. Backed in, and the front lined up with others :-P ) Someone bring a camera. Mine is MIA :?

A good time was had by all. Although the turnout was smaller than hoped for, lots of milkshakes and burgers where consumed.

From left to right we have:
doc (furthest away)
cinjay
Erebus
Green1
Jungle Jon (closest to camera)

cinjay's in an interesting colour scheme: dark blue over charcoal grey. I like it.

Hmm, if cinjay and doc had changed places, it would have been in order from newest to oldest too, Jungle Jon being the first one to get a Delica (although not this one)

It was nice to see and meet everyone. We will have to do it again. The weather could have been a little better, but on the bright side, it kept the lines small at Peter's :-)
