Strada?

I was trying to convince my sister to find one of these for her gardening business, but she was reluctant (the importing, the maintenance, the cost), so I told her to look for a Dodge Ram 50. Myself, hadn't seen one in years, but I figured there must still be a few out there, somewhere.

Anyway, after she buys another NAMPOS Ford Ranger, what pulls up next to me at a red light? A beat up ol' Ram 50! Guy's checking out my van, so I roll down my window and tell him it's the same vehicle, just a different cab. He nearly falls over when I give him a card with the forum's address and ccautos' name on it: seems he had been looking for a head for his engine and was having a b17ch of a time, and thinks he got ripped off when he did find one.

Not all the Ram 50 are good.The 2.6L 4 cyl.4G54(carburetor) is not a good engine.It had Jet-Valve in cylinder head and this head is weak.The 2.0L cyl.(carb.)is a bit better but not the best.
Other engine is 2.4l 4 cyl 4G64,electronic injection,available trough 1990.Really good engine,as long as you change the timing belt every 96000km.It's the same engine that you can find in a Delica P24 (gas model).Also available was the 6 cyl.3.0L(6G72),the biggest one and the most powerful but
hard to find.

On 1983-1986 model,it was possible to have the turbo-diesel 4D55,2.3L 4cyl,little brother of the 4D56.
So if you look for a Ram 50 or a Mighty Max,check for a 1990 model and up,2.4 or 3.0.
Or better,buy a Strada with the 4D56.

Hey Shorepig! Nice rig. Parked next to you on Seymour last Sunday morning - rode CBC / Corkscrew / Neds / Bottletop...where did you ride?
Couldn't figure your truck out - had fun checking it out though - figured it was a strada but noted the LHD and V6 gasser so got confooosed....now I know! Tks for the post!

BTW - passed a deli on the way down the hill, there was another in the lot at the top of Seymour just west of your rig, and passed another on the way down the hill.

Deli's and MTB's just go hand in hand!

i'm the cousin of Strada 92, I own the blue 92 Strada. In a near futur, i'm planning on selling it or trade it for a delica has my familly is growing. But, for now, we have to wait cause Quebec have a stupid law the does not permit to import jdm until this fall.

My wife and I are looking at buying a strada. She owned a Delica but we were forced to sell it because we already have a Pajero and a honda civic. The civic was the more practical commuter and the Pajero definately more offroadable. That being said, the commuter car may have to go due to a change in employment and a need for a pickup. Anyone know if the Strada could tow a small boat? I know our 92 Delica was not as powerful as the Pajero with the intercooler but may have done it I suppose. I imagine the Strada is lighter. Also, did it have a LSD or better yet, a locking diff?

Hey, my strada has an LSD, not a locking diff. it weighs about 3400 lbs empty. largest load i had was in the box/cab...it was 11 ppl plus camping gear weighing approx. 1900 lbs. about 1100lbs were in the box and climbed a 13% grade in second gear no problem. the next largest load was me, the girlfriend and 700kgs (according to the dump yard) of rock in the bed. I have yet to haul anything via trailer since i dont have a hook up. One major downfall with the strada is the turning radius. refer to my other thread a while back. hope this helps a bit

I have a Strada and i have no problem to haul my Sea-Doo with it.
Most of the time for a ride of 400km from Quebec City to Baie-Comeau with the family and all the stock needed for 1 or 2 weeks.
It's not quick when climbing a hill,sometimes up to 740m altitude,but never downshift lower than the third gear.
I really like my Strada.

I wouldn't hesitate to pull a trailor with a small boat behind my V6 Mighty MAx. It has alot of torque. I have had up to about 1500 pounds in the back before,a nd it was no problem for the motor and brakes, but the rear leaf springs are pretty wimpy. If I installed an "add a leaf" system to the rear, it could easily handle more weight, and stay relatively level.
