Hand throttle - open or closed when off
Just did a brief search on the forum but couldn’t find anything and wondering if anyone could tell me if it’s better to have the manual throttle cable open or closed when you turn off the van for the night in these moist humid winters. Does it make any difference?

On a diesel? The idle speed knob to the left of the steering column? It makes no difference. All it does is hold the accelerator pedal down a little.
Generally you're only supposed to use it when the engine's cold, to increase the idle speed. Once the engine's warm it should idle at 750rpm without using the knob. If you're engine's idling too slow, adjust the idle screw on the Injeciton Pump.
The idle speed cable is quite thin, I don't think it's intended for constant use.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
