I've just finished upgrading to dual piston brakes and new lines. I've got a question for whoever has done this job using the Russell 7" long steel brake lines: My upper line is very long compared to the original rubber one and touches the frame. I assume over time it might cause the line to wear down.

Any users having an issue of wear and tear on their lines because of this?

No experience with this specific brake line, but could you slip a bit of rubber pipe over it where it touches? Or bend the tabs to re-angle the line?

Growler look at my setup if I bend anything on it it breaks from rust! I'll try the rubber boot thanks!

LOL fair enough! I'm a big fan of the split rubber hose, held on with a cable tie or two.

When I have a moment I'll check mine as I did not cover mine with anything.

How do the brakes feel?

Spongy as usual but a noticeably quicker response to stopping. Pads haven't bedded either so hopefully it gets better. I'll have to bleed them again and maybe adjust the rear drums.

Never got to changing out the rear hose to the metal Russell one so I'll do that before bleeding them again.

Tidy! Here's how I made the bracket work:
Bending the steel brake line is a bit tricky though, you have to be careful to bend it on as large a radius as you can, otherwise it'll kink and then you have to replace it.

So I'm doing this upgrade this weekend and I'm wondering a few things.

Hub bolts
The hub bolts off of my old rotors are way too long for the new rotors that are on a few people's parts list for this job. Did you guys just put a washer underneath the old hub bolts so they wouldn't bottom out? If not where did you source the bolts?

Brake lines
Growler it seems like you bent your hard brake line so it would fit on that higher mount on the caliper. Does that make it so you don't have to buy a new brake lines or did you buy a new longer lines anyway?

I can't remember having your problem. I also looked @ http://delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=18792 which I'm sure you did as well and can't find any mention of an issue. Hopefully you have a solution by now.

That's a neat job! We may do the brake upgrade on my friend's van after we finished the last mods on his truck. The headache rack and tonneau covers will be next after installing the brake pads.
