I have to laugh at everyone's little poke at RSI. You don't know the situation and automatically assume he's the bad guy.

By posting his beef he's hoping the negative press will cause Steven to change his mind hence 'blackmail'.

Buy a delicate piece of equipment anywhere and try to get warranty that long after the fact on something not installed by a mechanic. I doubt you will get your money back.

I stand by RSI. Sorry. I also wouldn't put in my own rad either and I have pulled apart a lot of other things.

I didn't comment on the actual.rad itself, anyone who has had cars/worked on 'em know it is an easy fix usually, and that they do blow and crack occasionally. No comment on weather the situation is right or wrong. I can't remember the last time I asked for a supplier to.replace an inferior product, but I bet the OP is much better with his money than I am too. The comments.on this thread have to do.with how abrupt.and rude Steven is in these posts. It is quite.unbelievable.

My 2 cents:
A rad is an easy item for most anyone to swap out I think

The only rad I have ever had to replace was on a beat on 20 yr GM

I would expect a new rad to last the lifetime of a vehicle

If I installed it myself and it failed in less than 2 yrs I would hope the supplier would replace at cost or greater discount

If installed at a shop I would expect free replacement , maybe minor labour charge

If i bought a part worth more than $100 and its clear I'm not a mechanic I expect a clear emphasized warranty explanation when purchased.

Having worked in many aspects of the retail industry, this is a very common solution. Since the radiator wasn't installed by the shop in question, I can see the reluctance to replace since we do live in an age where people try to take advantage of business' (or just other people in general). On the other hand, to maintain a good relationship and have return customers, a good shop will want to help out the individual as best they can. By replacing the item at cost, the buyer doesn't take a massive hit and the seller doesn't lose their shirt.

At Sigge's Sport Villa, when someone breaks a near-new ski, we feel bad for them having to incur a huge expense, but at the same time we aren't going to lose money to help them out, so we sell them a new one at heavily reduced price. When someone buys equipment and ends up not liking it, we try to sell it for them to deflect the cost of buying equipment again.

At North Shore Door, when someone orders the wrong item, we won't replace it for free, but we will do our best to sell it for them to recuperate most of their cost and will sell them a new one at a reduced price.

These examples are not exactly the same as this, but show how a reputable company will handle a faulty product that can't be manufacturer warrantied.

The problem I have with this "beef", is the OP originally posted it about a month ago, then deleted it. In that post, I recall no mention of it leaking in the first 2 weeks. It was "I bought a rad from RSI last year, and now its leaking and I can't get warranty because I installed it myself" He also had said then, that he had taken it to be inspected by professionals to get their opinions. Now he says he deleted the first post so that he could take it to the pro's for inspection. If $350 is such a hard hit, why wait 6 months to try and get warranty. I would not call anyone a liar, but something is very Phisssshy. At first, all he is willing to pay is shipping, then further down, perhaps a rad at cost. I would consider the post as blackmail.

Like I said before I removed that post because at the time was upset at the way he teated me and thought I should pull it, And get the facts checked from a professional, I didn't want to be like the bc liberals. And of course you ask for warranty on it first hoping for the best. And after that most dealers would offer you one at a discount not blame it on you or your vehicle. I remember even saying so there is no chance its your rad that would have failed and he said no, your car has overpressurized it.

It would be nice if some kind of mutually workable solution could be met. I don’t think he’s asking for a free new rad nor should anyone expect one but customer service is big with many people.

save your $350.00 for another plastic tank radiator....they tend to leak at the seams....

Look online you can find a full aluminum radiator for less then that just need to see if anything is close to fitting...
