Hi Guys

I wanted to say hi to all the Ontario Delica drivers.

I know this is probably one of the quietest places on the board but none the less I check it all the time.

The Delica was picked up in august and since then has given me 20 000 good km's. It's a 94 spacegear in the fastest colour - white.

So far I've had a few minor issues though nothing I couldnt sort out myself (with the help of the board).

Squeaking from the front left - greased up the plastic/rubber nut covers on the control arms

Steering wheel refused to lock, couldnt get into gear (-15C out) - pulled the column cover off and lubed up the spring on the lockout from the brakes that prevents lever from moving.

Left rear bulb out in tail light.

Now i've got a bulb out in one of my foglights located in the mitsu plastic bumper thing (that i can't get at haha, figure that one out this weekend or next). Monkey'd around quick and what do ya know it seems that plastic bumper cover isnt exactly easy to pull off, if i'm not mistake the entire bumper must come off from four bolts.

I had my sport light blinking in the 15 weather, my guess is it the top of the shock was frozen so it couldnt swivel. Cleared itself out when I got in at night.

In the future I'll be adding a north american stereo as well as a C/B radio. Possibly short wave as well.
Inverter.

I'd love to do a 2 inch lift - saw a kit for sale on the boards. I'm guessing i'll figure out what the dimensions are for the spacers and just get them milled somewhere locally then pick up new shocks.

Power inverter.

In summer i'll fabricate up a real skid plate underneath to get rid of that junk that came stock.

I'd love to meet up with the ontario gang somewhere hopefully centrally located for camping next summer. (Sandbanks provincial park?) I'm very open to location with the only stipulation being that it's somewhere I've never been.

oh, and I'm located in the Kitchener/Waterloo area.

Welcome! I also have a delica in the fastest colour...white, but it's an L300 so my white isn't as fast as your white.

My wife and I plan to move back out to BC for the summer, but if that doesn't work out we'd be interested in a meet/camping.

We're located in London, but would love to go somewhere decent to camp.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of L400's.

Funny I keep looking at this spot as well. We seem to be few and very far between. I would be interested in something like that for sure.

I was toying with the idea of a fall meet in Muskoka for all drivers of RHD and other unique vehicles followed by driving tours on highways, backroads and logging roads depending on your vehicle and goals.

I know of some fun logging roads for some intro 4x4 in the Muskoka area, nothing hard core but fun.

I might be up for the logging roads as long as things are kept relatively tame. I used to ride them on my BMW bike and always loved getting off the beaten path.

Hey Folks from Ontario!

One question for you. How do you get insured in Ontario? Special price, special broker!

And if you guys back east need some part from the guys here in Vancouver, I'll be crossing Canada beginning of February! So if you need a lift kit, etc... I'll be happy to carry them to Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal! They only thing is that a set of wheel will propably won't fit in the van because I do have all my stuff! but L400 LWB is big so just ask!

Cheers Mates
Antoine

My insurance was pretty straight forward after I educated my Co-Operators broker who I have known for years about the Deli.

I picked up my Deli privately from a guy who had one shipped to Ontario but then found it did not meet his needs for hauling large canoe trailers.

The roads that I have been on are located between Haliburton and Bracebridge, north of 118, south of 117, west of Hwy 35 and east of Hwy 11. I discovered them in my back country road map. They are summer only roads that mostly can be driven in 2 wheel drive with the occasional washout requiring some easy 4x4 driving.

Cheers

I picked mine up form Mardy at amazingautoimports. A very, very good guy who went to all lengths to ensure that my family, myself and my delica were all good to go before we headed out of Vancouver. He even picked us up at the airport - definitely a high of the family trip out west (flew out, picked up deli, visited friends and drove home).

My wife took care of the insurance, the broker has been taking care of her families insurance for years.

I'd love to have that lift kit but the price is steep and raw materials cheap. I'm thinking of figuring out dimensions and getting them milled myself.

Good luck getting your new wheels!

just rememberd this post, i'm down with RHD meets since we're still delicaless, bring on the spring and summer! i'd do my best to get the fam out to muskoka. used to ride motorcycles out there before, would love to head back on the trails this time and enjoy the outdoors.
which loggin roads did you have in mind? curious. may have been there already. i've done ardbeg a couple times in the bush cruiser, always a blast.

I also got my 1993 L300 from Mardy in 2008 when my wife and I were living in North Vancouver. It's a white SuperExceed with Crystalite, hot/cold box, winter package, LSD...pretty much all options except no front and rear curtain tracks, but my wife made us curtains anyway that work. Mardy is amazing...just like his name says I guess. When we first moved back we were insured through Intact (same insurance before we moved to B.C.), but when our renewal came up they said no more RHD's. So now we're with AllState. Better service and cheaper rates so no complaints now.
We're always up for some backroad camping. We are planning on going treeplanting in B.C. this summer (if we get jobs), but if not, we'll be around and itching for a road trip/camping.

Here is a link to the storage/bed sytem we made last summer...

Hello everyone,

I have been visiting delica.ca since we bought an L300 in Feb. 2008. The forums have been most helpful. I just wanted to introduce myself, Andy and my wife Christine. We haven't done any mods with our L300 as I don't think my skill set would produce great results. :-D
We hope to do some camping this year, (we are in Picton, Ontario) any suggestions would be cool.
A delica meet-up would be great as well. Might want to time it with some of the awesome car shows that go on all over ontario during the summer. I know our deli gets a great deal of attention everywhere we go.

Cheers,

Andy and Christine
