First run everyday, even after doing the Key dance...I have to two foot to keep her running for the first 2 minutes or so. The thing I don't understand...its the same when the temp is in the mid to high teens. I havn't experienced this in the last 3 1/2 years. Any ideas?
Brad.

Re: Wants to stall
Either gas or diesel I would point to the fuel system. Take it to a shop near you that you trust and have them do a quick evaluation.
If yours is diesel....its sounding like the Injection Pump may need a rebuild.

Re: Wants to stall
Hey,
On the later L300's and all L400's there is no manual choke.
There is however a cold start valve type thingy.
It is on the injector pump I believe.
Search Jafarsangs posts for "what to check on an L400"
That is what it sounds like to me, should not be to
Much of a buggah to fix.
Please let us know how it works out.
Good Luck!

Re: Wants to stall
Just a tip you should not either a diesel engine, it does damage to the rings and if done enough they become "dependant'' on it to start.
Trust me I have had to rearing engines where guy have either there trucks every morning when all they need was work on the starting system to spin he starter quicker.

Re: Wants to stall
Did you mean to type ETHER And that it should be avoided? His problem is it won't idle properly....my L400 did that and it turned out that the Injector Pump seals were starting to go. Idled like crap until the rebuild. Works great now.
Although it may be his IP, could be other things at work. Best to have a tech who knows these engines give a proper diagnosis.

Re: Wants to stall
Sounds like either the cold idle adjustment is way out or the front pump seal has gone. Try adjusting the cold idle and see how it goes.
