Decal removal

My lady has indicated she no longer likes the decals on my L400 Jasper. Anyone have any suggestions or experience on removing them?

I've done a crappy job of removal with a heat gun and plastic scrapers but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than a small supplier type sticker.
The guys that did my tinting were doing a decal removal when I picked up my van and they were using a chunk of rubber chucked in a drill. It looked like pencil eraser type of rubber and the decals fairly flew off.

I have used my wifes hair dryer and some rubbing alcohol. Just make sure you don't rub too hard with the rubbing alcohol and make sure you throw a good quality wax on when it is off. No problems for me, just heat up the decal and get a corner started and it should just peel off with the heat. Then I use the rubbing alcohol to remove any left over bits of glue left behind. Usually followed by a dose of meguires cleaner wax or ultimate wax.

I had great success with a heat gun and a plastic razor blade. I was worried there would be darker paint underneath due to it being hidden from UV rays for the past 20 years but it's not even noticeable that there was decals there at all! Didn't really find there was any way I could have messed it up....

When it works, the heat gun is probably the easiest solution. But I had some decals that would not come off with the heat gun. The rubber wheel in a drill-chuck did the trick. Got it from Lordco for about $12 or so. The mandrel comes separately, so be sure to get that too.

Heat gun or hair dryer has always worked for me, I used lemon juice to remove left over flu residue(a trick I learned from a friend who happens to design decals)

Worked like a charm while the glue was still warm.

I can live with them and I have to admit that I'm not keen to begin this job.....

I just removed the decals off my Pajero and replaced them with nice new non faded ones. Hair drier and plastic scrapper (don't use a razor blade)
The decal comes off but then looks messy. That's OK!!! Go buy Auto Glym Instant Tar remover from Canadian tire!!! Works like a dream. Dab it on let it soak for a second then simply wipe off, takes it off wonderfully without harming your paint. Once removed wipe clean with 50/50 water/iso alcohol.

This works very well to remove the sticky stuff. Scraping it or alcohol alone might make it look like its gone but it will show when dirt sticks to it over time. The Auto Glym was great. But be prepared for the paint to be a different tone when you remove it as it hasn't had the UV exposure the non decal covered paint had.

Go buy a stripe removal wheel from Lordco, cost about 12-15 dollars and cleans them off perfect.
