I'm looking to craft a relationship with my local garage here in Saskatoon, as they seem like great people, and I'd like to support them.
How could I make it easier for them to source parts and get information on the Delica?
Would it be easier for them if I suggested a BC shop to source parts, or is there a "garageman's" online resource or catalogue that I could suggest for parts?
They seem ready to take on the challenge, but they said that the weren't sure where to start looking for parts.

Re: Helping out your local garage..
WE seem to be in the same boat here.
Our mechanics are VW/diesel specialists.
They have been working on my VW vehicle for the past few years and are going to be the ones taking care of our new l400.
Im not much of the DIY kind of guy when it comes to Automobiles so i depend alot on my mechanic.
I was able to download a pdf shop manual for the l400 that I will be giving to my local shop.
A Mechanic section may be great sometime in the future for those willing to help with shop questions from other mechanics.
We will have the only Delica in our city and driving far for service with a sick vehicle is not an option.
Hope that years down the road our mechanic can be as familiar with these vehicles as some seem to be on this sight.
Any additional help is greatly appreciated for all of us out of province owners.
Thanks alot for all the help and info already.

Don't be afraid to drop shop names for them, or phone for parts yourself.
Best of luck on your fix and please post results/ recomendations for others here!

Re: Helping out your local garage..
I found that phoning for parts yourself will get you a better deal as the garage will do the same thing but then charge you a fee for it on top of the hard cost. Some other good ones that I've dealt with in some way or other are cvi, rockymountain, maximum overdrive, amazing auto's, Dennis Lambert, etc

Re: Helping out your local garage..
If not available from the reputable suppliers who support this site...then how about the nearest Mitsu dealership? Dealership may be more receptive to trying to source OEM parts from Mitsu Japan for a repair shop than (historically some dealerships have been) for Joe "off-the-street" Blow. Should be easy for all involved, too, since 1/2 the time the Mitsu part number (if OEM) is stamped right on the old part...and the rest of the time is quite easy to find online. Sure, the parts may be more pricy than (if avail) aftermarket, but for the hassle saved and reliably good quality, it would be worth it.VirtualJJ wrote:... but they said that the weren't sure where to start looking for parts.
