glow plug part numbers
Hey there, as part of my winterizing, I've decided to replace the glow plugs. I copied a bunch of part numbers off the web site, and just tried three places. None of them could find any of these numbers... If anyone could post some numbers for me to try, I'd appreciate it. I've got Napa, Piston Ring, Can Tire, etc... in Manitoba (bosch, champion)

You can take a look at the bottom of my post here http://www.delica.ca/forum/hard-cold-st ... -3653.html. I bought them in Lordco, and they work like a dream!

Re: glow plug part numbers
Can I ask what brand the aftermarket plugs are? Do you think there is substantial difference in reliability or the start-ability between the two?
p.s there appears to be an issue with your website

Re: glow plug part numbers
I would recommend getting genuine Mitsubishi glow plugs. For pre-1994 Delicas, the part number is MD092392 (green top). Available at any Mitsu dealer, especially if you don't mention what they are for. I've seen quite a few comments about not using any aftermarket, that they don't work that well.
The Mitsu ones are 6V glowplugs that are run at 8V for short period of time, then at 5V. Makes it warm up quickly, but other brands might not like that.
I paid about $140 for 4 of them.
The torque specs is 11-15 ft.lb. or 1.5-2.0 kg/m or 15-20 newton metre.

The NAPA Part Number for NGK Glow Plugs is 2161 and they cost me $38.54 each.

Re: glow plug part numbers
The NGK plugs are excellent. I installed many of them last year and the comments back were that start ups were faster and smoother than with the green tops.
In most of the other diesels I work on, I have found that the NGK plugs perform very well when they fit the application. It is clearly a case of getting what you pay for.

Re: glow plug part numbers
Going to replace my L300 glow plugs ASAP. Looks like it's at least $45/plug for either the NGK 2161's or Mitsubishi Green Top MD092392 OEM plugs.
Both are recommended on Delica.ca but posts are stale (Back in 2007-2008). Any fellow L300 drivers have a preference? Should I go with the NGK's or the Mitsubishis?
My van is mostly in Vancouver but needs to start at possible -10 temperatures a few days out of each Winter. Some of those days will be ski touring and the Van needs to start after sitting cold for up to 10 hours so I would like to err on the side of the plugs that seem to give faster and more consistent start.
It appears that both are 6.2v dual voltage.
Thanks!

If you can find real Mutsu glow plugs for $40 I'd check it's not some other brand painted or used ones cleaned up! Check to old "Group Buy " attempt .

Re: glow plug part numbers
I phoned around to CVI, Maximum Overdrive and Amazing Auto and all agreed that the genuine Mitsubishi glow plugs were better, but that they would have to order them in. I'm not going to mess around with anything else because I want my Delica to turn over after sitting cold all day with a day of skiing.
PM me ASAP with your contact info if you want to go in on my order with one of Richmond shops to reduce prices. Please don't forum-reply and clutter this thread.
For any of us "new" owners of used L300's who were not familiar with the circa 2007-2008 threads when Delica's started hitting Vancouver these are the best glow plugs:
genuine Mitusbishi 6.2V 'fast start' version supplied from Mitsubishi and NOT aftermarket, Hyundai, Chinese or NGK/copies.
OEM part number # MD092392

Re: glow plug part numbers
I used to have some stock for 6.2 volt but out of stock now I used European made.
the 6.2 is shorter than 11 volt. the European one is good with double coil on it.
I don't put any 93- 98 model water cooled 11v glow plug in the old engine too long will create
problem thru your cylinder head
then your cylinder is gone for repair.
just precaution
Cheers;

Re: glow plug part numbers
I'd go OEM because it's totally balanced to the ECU. After market doesn't necessarily have the correct impedance. Maybe the after market will work ~ I just don't want that thought lingering in my head, you know? Peace of mind.
