Stuck

Post by Firesong »

Had an interesting experience...
We had a 24 hour geocaching event this weekend.
What has made it interesting has been the amount of rain
we've received over the last week.

So... we went to this interesting cache and after looking at
the ground I backed down the ditch a bit so we could get on the
roofbasket and peer over some water.

Darned if the ditch wasn't saturated with water. What I thought
was secure and stable gravel left us sunk 2/3 up the rear tire.
Problem was the steep angle put the weight towards the rear and
the front couldn't get traction.

Embarrasingly stuck.
Luckily, I called a fishing bud, he didn't laugh or anything. Simply
said that he figured for me to call, I must be badly stuck.
We dropped off a case of beer this morning as thanks.
It was an easy pull, both in 4Lo, eased up. It redistributed the
weight forward.

Weird thing though, shortly afterwards I noticed both my foglights
wouldn't work (not the stock ambers). Today I checked and both
the H1 55watts were burnt.
Strange.

My copilot guaranteed that I will need to clean the interior.
I had my wall-to-wall cut rubber mat down however in
the back he put his boots up on the rug behind the passenger
seat. Moron.
Ah well.
Still a fun time.
Weird about both bulbs going though.

Perhaps the plugs under the shroud shorted in the mud?

Your Delica is an anti-pinball machine, when you tilt too much, the lights go OUT! That's my explanation.

If they are off road driving lights and not fog lights they may rely on air cooling to not get excessively hot and burn out. If you had them on for a long time with the vehicle stopped it is possible.
