I love Plasti Dip...

Post by del400 »

We probably all hate the sun worn plastics on the car... here is a solution to some of them. Plasti Dip... Looks great, holds great and if you need to retouch it's like new again. Amazing.

Photos to come in one minute...

That's pretty cool, Alex. I'm more into the restoration of the vinyl rather than painting it but that actually looks pretty good. Are you making it out to the mini meet/barbecue in New West on the 28th? Would love to see the job in person.

Falco.

I think the cool thing about this is that it's not paint. If you decide you don't like it later or you messed up the application you just peel it off. My only concern is that I'd it gets a chip in it would it not be prone to peeling off on its own!? The kit for dipping your entire vehicle is only $250...very tempting!

My thoughts exactly. It takes time to tape and paint it all. I used Krylon so I wouldn't have to do it again, at least not for a long time.

Does look the same as my Krylon job though- nice. I am thinking about using this on parts of my roof rack. I am going to dip the feet where it touches the paint of the van.

I know Home Hardware used, or still does........ used it years ago on some old Jeep parts.... found the idea neat, looked good, applied easy..... but as mentioned, it does peel off (too easily IMHO)

Not durable enough for what most people would want it for.

hard to find it here, plus it's a little on the pricey side. Online is best. About $7 a bottle from ebay.

you are right. next thing up is bed liner such sprays. I used a clear coat on the hood as a "bra". Should last a couple of years from chips etc. Then peel it off and you're new again. Respray if you want.
