Hi All,
I decided late last year that my van was to be utilitarian – since then I have removed all rear seats, all the plastic molding inside (exposed the bare metal) the rear AC, the rear mirror on the hatch that looks down at your bumper, my ladder and soon my rear spoiler and both of my rear windows. I would like my van to be simple – no useful purpose – then it's gone!
Which brings me to the ladder, why do so many delicas come with a ladder and no roof rack? Are the ladders for checking out the rust on the roof? OR are they simply for the LCF (Look Cool Factor)?

Re: Ladder without roof rack
I had a ladder on my L300 and just put the roof rack on when I needed it, maybe once a month or so for longer lumber that wouldn't fit inside. Without the ladder it was hard to load stuff without scratching up my van. With the rack off there are a lot more parking options for me.

Ladders are very useful for not just climbing on but tying off onto, hanging your socks on, &c.. I use that mirror for not just getting in and out of tight spaces but also backing up to trailer hitches. Do you have the low roof (P25) by chance? If so ~ you want to get rid of the spoiler? I would be interested in it.

I am not sure I have the Crystal Lite roof (is that a low or high?) how can you tell?
I really like the look of your ladder. Is it custom?

Re: Ladder without roof rack
If you have crystal lites then you have a high roof, or P35. You can tell by your VIN, it will begin with P35W- followed by seven numbers. The purpose for the spoiler on the Delica is to keep the dirt and snow off the rear windscreen. It can also work as a visor against reflective light. The P35W is roughly five inches taller than the P25W. Mine is a P25W.

As i am not 7'6" tall, i love my ladder as it helps me reach the top of the van when washing.
Aside from that, it just looks cool.
