Does anyone know if you can get a new replacement of the round rubber gasket that gets compressed on the air intake system when you close the hood (not sure if that makes sense but it is the rubber you see right above the battery on the intake)? I am still having trouble with the strong smell coming into the cabin from the engine bay. Many different opinions from some observers (smells like spent diesel, just a regular diesel engine smell, etc.) I have ruled out exhaust as I took it to a muffler shop and they traced from the manifold back to the tail pipe and there was no leak. FishTank is here and he noted it smells like a hot diesel engine running. It is driving me nuts because it blows right into your face! It is only a noticible smell when you are stopped while running. At highway speeds it is not there.
I have noticed this rubber gasket does not seem to be compressed at the top, and very compressed everywhere else. Just wondering if the gasket is not sealing properly and I am getting the smells coming off the engine. This only started in late January. I have been putting a used dryer sheet doused in air freshner over the duct opening and that numbs it somewhat but only for a little while. Not sure what can be done, but any suggestions are welcome.

Look for a used seal from a wreckers/dealer, should be easy to find in the Vancouver area.
