So a funny thing happened to me in the space of a few minutes.
I pushed the button to fold up the outside mirrors. Both mirrors closed. I pushed the button to open the outside mirrors and only ONE (Driver's side) opened. So then in a fit of experimentation manually opened the passenger mirror and THEN I pushed the button again to close the mirrors. Driver side failed to close. When I pushed the button again... now the PASSENGER doesn't open.... and it only got crazy from there.
summary:
Driver mirror opens but does NOT close electronically
Passenger mirror closes but does NOT open electronically
Weird. Anyone see that one before?

Re: Funny floppy outside mirrors
Sounds like both of your mirrors are broken! You probably want to get some from a wrecker to replace them, or take them apart and find the broken gears.

Funny floppy outside mirrors
I had some crazy mirror action recently. Mine just started opening and closing by themselves! Every few minutes they would open (or close), until finally they stopped in the closed position which was not good.
I found a post on the mdocuk forum about dismantling the switch. It had photos and was super helpful. Upon dismantle, I found tons of water. This all made sense as I rembered that morning it was raining like mad and I had the door open for ages while loading my daughters stuff.
Since taking it apart and drying it it has been perfect.
