Anyone in Victoria with an angle drill?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Anyone in Victoria with an angle drill?

Post by Neil AFCCo. »

My rocker arm shaft busted on me, the back 3 inches or so just fractured completely from the rest. I believe this was a result of the back bolt fracturing or weakening from when my timing belt went in april?
CVI is sending me a new shaft and bolt, but before I could do anything I need to get the broken bolt out as it was busted right at the top of the bolt hole. It's a tight spot and so a normal drill cannot fit in there and it's not a great angle for using a hammer and center punch, or at least I haven't been dexterous enough to make this work.

I was hoping someone was here in Victoria who had an angle drill to save me from going out to buy one. Also, it'd be great to have some experienced help as even if I did buy one, I wouldn't want to botch this then have to replace even more parts :P.
I live in Fernwood and would be happy to do a trade, perhaps provide some window washing?

Thanks muchly!

Neil

I wouldnt start by drilling it, last time i did something like that it got messy, last resort to me. I'd make it nice and clean, drop a nut over it and point a MIG through the hole in the nut and weld it to the bolt top, the bolt isnt seized in is it, and the load is off it now, so it shouldnt be too tight. Spin it out, job's a good'un.

What would you think of some PL3000 or something like that as a replacement for a weld?

I assume its a kind of adhesive? You could try it, but in my experience nothing sticks to steel like more molten steel, and if it doesnt work you then have to clean it off somehow to make it clean enough to weld.
