L400 engine oil in LARGE pail

Post by doodah »

Anyone know where I can buy large pails of GOOD diesel oil in large pails?

We now have 4 diesels in our entourage...2 delicas, 1 Bongo dumper and a Kubota tractor.

Any particular reason you want it in pails? Would not jerry cans suffice? I would think that pails would be a fire hazard, no?

Are you thinking diesel fuel? Most oil is sold in pails but I've never seen anything I would consider "good" in a pail (as in full synthetic). What would you define as being good?

Sorry, I am accustomed to putting Diesel oil into the fuel tank and engine oil into the lubrication system. When I first read your post I was honestly puzzled as to what you meant.
No offence intended.

I would think Canadian Tire would carry pails of engine oil of varying grades.
There is a place on Norland Avenue in Burnaby called United Petroleum Products
that will sell you engine oil by the pail (or drum, or bulk): http://www.hotfrog.ca/Companies/United- ... ts_1147946

hey doodah

I came back to find my posts for you removed by Paul (Falco) without any reasoning. No matter. He does whatever he does.

here is what I posted that I can remember. I'm going to be doing some deployments at St. Mary's close to you so if you need a run from the city, I may be able to do that for you. Just shoot me an email.
Walmart has the most consistent bulk pricing for the 20L Castrol 15W40 Tection and Rotella 15W40 pails. Sometimes you can get same/better pricing during sales at the auto parts stores.

As for the 20L pails being a fire hazard, they most certainly are not. So please disregard that statement by the administrator.

I use the 20 liter pails from canadian tire. they have eitheir their motomaster (Certified) 15/40 brand and also Shell rotella 15/40.

the shell is about 20 dollars more expensive per pail but both go on sale at monthly intervals for a good price.

I buy in pails all the time and store them so would like to know also if there are other sources for good prices.

Also you can sometimes get bulk new 15/40 or synthetic oil from oil change shops if you have your own pails. some will sell it some will not bother, depends on the shop manager.

Back to what you would consider "GOOD", I buy boxes of 15W40 Royal Purple and they come in quarts but the box contains 4 quarts. Total cost last time I did this was about $160 with tax and without discounts from Napa. This is arguable the best oil you can buy along with Amsoil, etc. You could also buy MotoMaster oil in pails as rezdiver mentions and is much much cheaper and you may consider this good as well!? It also depends on whether you have a bypass unit or not, chances are you don't, but the reason I go with full synthetic and pay so much is because it lasts for 20,000km so in the long run, even replacing filters every time, it really isn't that expensive.

ROFL!!

I use Liqui-Moly (and a gilded, jewel encrusted oil filter. The jewels make it easier to unscrew when it's oil change time).

:-D :-D :-D

Sure do, nothing but the best for my girl even if she doesn't appreciate it now I'm hoping she will in the future. My total costs are still half what I was paying before the bypass system (although I suppose they could be 1/4, I'm still happy)
