SS exhaust and snorkel

Post by nxski »

I'm thinking a double stack 2.5" exhaust paired with a snorkel would look neat. I have a new connection for metalwork so thought this might be a good first project to start him on. Basically it looks like I just send the tubing in where a normal snorkel would go, plumb it into the airbox and then out to the engine!? I fail to see the reason for a trap since the airbox would do this. Can anyone see a problem with this or have a suggestion to make it cooler?

6" side pipes (both sides) and a rally vent on the roofline - that would be cooler!

I'd be up for larger pipes and one on each side. The roof vent is pushing it considering how busy it already is and it would just be stuck to my sun roof. Do you think it would be possible to vent the exhaust out the other side without bringing it down so low as to give less clearance for offroading? It seems as though I'd have to have it bent under the transmission!?

Bingo! I'm hoping not as ghetto though. I could clamp them to my roof rack and have them dump / suck just above the roof

Seriously though.....
As long as the exhaust isn't to close to the intake, which means keep the spent gasses away from the clean(er) air intake stream the final look could be quite fetching.....

What about the heat from the exhaust? Given any thought on preventing plastic warp or people getting burned from accidentally touching the pipe? You would also need some way of keeping rain and snow from entering the vertical tail pipe when parked..unless you put a tractor flap on it.

I was thinking of having the exhaust bent back and the snorkel bent forwards as for heat...don't be stupid and touch it, maybe a sticker!?. :-D what plastic would be warping?

That would go over real well in court, after little 4 year old timmy leans over to touch the shiny pipe in the mall parking lot and his hand melts to the pipe. "Sir I did have a warning sticker on it but it must have melted off from the heat, that little s^!t should have known better than to touch my van" :-)

I'll just put the sticker next to it. Semi's have exposed pipes and I've never heard of someone being taken to court for that. :?
