Auto locks... working?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Auto locks... working?

Post by Paule »

After putting a new battery in the door lock remote, on a whim, I've discovered that it works! It only does the driver's door, but its a start...

I'm wondering if anyone else has a stock (it says Mitsubishi) blue/light blue door remote... I'd like to know if there is something up with my system, in that it only works one door on purpose, or because its broken somewhere.

Note that my auto door locks have never worked for me in the 6 months that I've owned my van, even with the key. (So my suspicion is broken). Where to start looking?

Thanks for any help!

If it only locks one door, something is wrong.

You can always get it replaced with an after market one. This gives you greater range, more key fobs and fixes the problem.

I figured as much. But would there be a combo of button pushing that should open more than the drivers door? (double tap, hold button?) - Something to try first...?
There is a mess of wires and controllers under the driver seat that I believe is for the remote locks and I'm wondering if something has disconnected so the other doors don't open...

On the L300 the drivers door lock activates the other three doors So it sounds like the control relay has gone for the door locking system. On our 91 L300 the relay is on the fire wall to the left of the steering column behind the brake lines has have fun accessing it . Cheers Jay Tardis Deli

Well now, that is neat to know! I don't think that the L400 works this way, but that is a good piece of info for reference!

Likely is similar on the L400 since if you use the key on drivers door it opens/locks every other door; but if you use the key on any other door it just opens/locks that individual door. At least that is how mine (1995) operates.

Interesting, mine does not do this. But it also has a random habit of suddenly locking itself with no warning. This does not seem to happen while it is running, only parked and with the key removed. Then again, it often immediately locks itself after being unlocked.

Awesome! A place to start! (Not having one is usually my problem...)

Jay, I think we both have '97 L300s. Do you suppose its in the same place? And is there a way to test the relay once I've got it out?

Thanks everyone!

The "Unlock" (push up I believe) button only side of the switch for locking/unlocking the trunk door on my L300 finally stopped working. "Lock" (e.g. push down) still works with no problems.

Unlock has been slowly deteriorating over the summer (I would have to press several times and at different speeds and finally it would catch) so I am hoping this is just a case that the switch might need replacing only. Just a connection problem? Because lock still works I don't see the problem being anything other than the switch.

Not electrically inclined so would appreciate if anyone else has experienced this. Original 22 year old switch.

Here is a post I found on Delicaclub regarding an L300 Starwagon - they didn't find any issues with wiring so maybe I just need new switch? (No answer on the Delicaclub thread)

Good Day to all! I'm having problems with my trunk door not opening with the push of the switch button i've check the wires and found out it's ok after inserting the tip of a volt tester, then i tap the door actuator to the battery's and it's working? I wonder where the problem could be? I saw a square box under the dashboard with wires and a "door control" word on it, does it has something to do with the trunk door? Also isn't the side door connected in anyway with the trunk meaning when you push the switch to gate unlock, it also opens the side door locks? Mine is a P35W starwagon superexceed.
