Dash Speaker Replacements
Hey all. It came to my attention tonight as I was driving home from work with the tunes slightly cranked that the passenger side dash speaker is blown. I have just done my research and was wondering if anyone has any recomendations for a replacement that will keep the stock grills and feel. I read that 4' is what I am looking for. Hoping to find a drop in replacement with no modification for these.
I want to put speakers in that work well, sound well, and maintain the stock appearence. Thinking that since I going to be doing the dash, I might want to do the door as well, but I want to maintain stock look. I saw some pics in my researching that show speakers mounted in the doors ontop of the original location, but I don't want it to look like it shouldn't be there. Again, I am kind of hoping for a drop in replacement that will still hide in behind the stock grills.
Any suggestions, pics?

I just took one out and took it with me to Future Shop, found a similar set that sounded nice and used those.

Good- so it is possible. What kind of speaker did you buy? I just want something that sounds good. I prefer to listen to my music instead of feeling it like some of the super-bass stereos.Mr. Flibble wrote:I just took one out and took it with me to Future Shop, found a similar set that sounded nice and used those.

I honestly don't even remember. I went to the stack and listened to what they had that matched my speaker size and got myself a speaker based on that.CREGAN wrote:Good- so it is possible. Let me know if you find a 4" speaker that gives you bass that you "feel". They are way to small for those though some may not be as clear as others.CREGAN wrote:Good- so it is possible. You pay for what you get here. There is lots of room there so any 4" speaker should slide in nicely. Replacing OEM speakers on these van's almost always gives you a better sound.
Happy trails as you enjoy the tunes!

I don't think you will find that in a 4" speaker. There is not enough space to drive the air mass in the door either.
I have a 12" sub in a large box with a 200 watt amp that gives me bass that I feel.

I am just saying that I don't need 500w super speakers and a 24 inch sub that is so loud it vibrates windows on the street as it drives by. I just like to listen to it and when a good tune comes on I might be tempted to turn it up to 30.... and then quickly turn it down when someone is watching.

I decided I am just going to go pick up some of the little 4 inch Pioneers from Wally. I will start with the dash and see where I go from there.

Re: Dash Speaker Replacements
Unless you've spent money elsewhere in the van to include a couple of amps, a bass box, and more speakers all-round, any 4" speakers will do.

Re: Dash Speaker Replacements
The other option is a transducer you can mount to the underside your seat. This substitutes as a subwoofer and is much smaller. Though, depending on your head unit you may need another amp. Also, subwoofers need not be huge (mine is, but it all ended up being free due to an ICBC claim).
You could get yourself a small bass tube for the back of the van as well. No need to crank it up until you can't drive straight.

Re: Dash Speaker Replacements
I replaced the rear 6x9's with jbl 2 ways and the doors with 6.5" Rockford and left the dash stock. Put in a high end pioneer deck and it sounds like a rock concert over stock! The kids love it. Lol
I want to change out the fronts, make sure to let us know how they sound Craig.
