Rear view mirror & Dash lights

Two little oddities that I wanted to ask about.

Is there a dimmer for the dash instrument cluster lights? and if so where?

Also, my rear view mirror is VERY wobbly and won't support my lane-changer style mirror which was fantastic in my Toyota. I can't see an obvious way to open up the back of the mirror to see if it can be tightened, or really see how to pop of the cover where the mirror is mounted to the ceiling.

Any insight would be great.

That's a good question about the dimmer for the dash lights. If there is one it's well hidden as I've never seen one.

Someone on one of the forums (possibly the UK one) posted a fix for this a while back, basically it involved popping the mirror off the post it hangs from, and inserting a piece of cardboard, (or in their case, a matchstick) in to the hole before re-assembling. I have done this to mine and it makes a big difference.

One word of warning though, the post detaches from the ceiling often with less force than the mirror from the post, and if so, it can be rather "finicky" to put back together (I did manage on mine, but there are extremely small pieces that can go flying)

The manual shows that the dimmer switch would be on the turnsignal / headlight stalk. But no one on this forum seems to have this option. (Why it is an option is a good question.)

At night on back roads I find the dash lights rather bright. If someone comes up with a way to add one, I'd line up for the instuctions.

I will try to remember to ask my bro about this - he is an electronics entrepreneur/guru working on some really interesting stuff for outdoors types and vehicle enthusiasts (amongst many others). I understand one of his close friends who works with him just bought a Deli too - not sure if she hangs around here, but maybe she should.

I suspect a very easy add-on (dimmer switch) would do the job and another "little dealie" in the cockpit flight panel would add more "cool factor" to it. Label the switch "stealth" and away you go

It is kind of strange for the deli to not have one... my extremely basic 1991 Mitsubishi Colt has one, maybe I can figure a way to hijack the dimmer.

Talked to my bro about this. After a couple of electrical meter readings to determine what size of rheostat (sp?) to use it would then just involve installing the rheostat (dimmer) in the dash light circuit. Don't have my Deli yet (should be tomorrow) so don't have access to readings or rheostat size at the moment. Unless somebody else comes up with a solution first (or actually finds one in their Deli), I will look into it when I can and share my findings.
