Delica Wave?
I seem to remember somebody mentioning a sort of hand signal we give each other when we drive by on the road, along the same sort of thing that VW drivers did in the early days, when their rides were something new and different and special. Is there a Delica Wave of sorts?

Re: Delica Wave?
I dunno about out there, but over here we just wave, or flash, same as in a landy, well if the lights work. I think some of tje veedub scene like to throw hand shapes like gang signs, but thats just daft.

Re: Delica Wave?
Funny thing about the wave...I would say that most don't. If I wave and the other guy sees me they wave back, but if I don't, they usually don't. Unlike motorcycle guys (except Harley riders; they seem too cool or something) or VW guys, who almost always wave. Seems the community here on the island isn't very tight.

It's time to change that, because we do have something special.Rattlenbang wrote:Funny thing about the wave...I would say that most don't. Re: Delica Wave?
I experienced that last summer on the island. I saw one L400 who chatted with me at a gas station, but other than him I saw about 8 other Delicas (L300's mostly) and I never got a wave back. I was a little disappointed, but I got over it. I drive a VW and and I love waving. It is really fun when you get someone who is also really into waving back. I even wave at Eurovans... althought they don't usually wave back.Rattlenbang wrote: Seems the community here on the island isn't very tight.

I did get a wave back from an L300 going north on the Sea to Sky and it got caught up in the middle of some Porsche club road rally. It was tucked in the midlle of about 20 Porsche's. The look on his face was awesome as he waved back while caught in the middle of it.

The Delica Canada club wave is emblematic of the Mitsumaple (
), where one basically gives a V for victory wave but with an extended thumb. So, as demonstrated by Winnie below, except with an extended thumb so you have three extended digits being displayed. We'll have to actually post a proper picture one of these days.

Re: Delica Wave?
I Always wave at both 300's and 400's. I don't always see in time, and I get that others are the same. I am disappointed when I don't get a wave back and it's clear I've been seen. It happens a lot; at least 50% of waves not returned. Not everyone feels the love I guess. Too bad.

Happy Day!

Re: Delica Wave?
It's very easy to miss something like that if you're going any speed, and depending on the light and glare and what the driver is doing they just might not see you. I doubt that most people who see a wave wouldn't wave back, although as I said, few other Delica drivers offer one first. It's like walking along the sidewalk; most strangers don't say hello, but if you do first, they usually respond with one.konadog wrote:I Always wave at both 300's and 400's. I wave. My wife shakes her head and thinks I'm a nerd. So I turn and wave to my wife.
Why does she always shake her head at me?

Perhaps she doesn't feel the Delica love. That's women for you, eh? With them, without them ~ who can live?bassnailer wrote:I wave. My wife shakes her head and thinks I'm a nerd. So I turn and wave to my wife.

Re: Delica Wave?
I gave "the" deli wave to an L300 (I drive one also) passing me up a (steep) hill (how did he do that?) and didn't even get a look. Some just don't seem aware of our being a little off-right!
P.S. I have practiced the wave in a dark room with no one watching until I got it right and it became second nature.

Re: Delica Wave?
I passed an L300 going in the opposite direction, and to make up for the non-wavers out there I waved with both hands.
