L400 Thermostat trouble

Who has purchased a coolant thermostat for their Spacegear and still has the part number for what they bought?

Drove through a brutal white out blizzard just outside of Calgary last night and the engine could barely hold operating temp.

You'd best searc h out that number. IMHO none of the delica engines run hot in the winter. Cardboard over the rad is good for your climate.
Okay I'll bite. What's a winter front?

A winter cover, while effective at reducing cold air (in extreme cold) being drawn through the radiator which in turn helps an engine stay at peak operating temperature for the coolant can have the opposite effect in warmer winter weather when the thermostat is working properly.

My problem is a faulty thermostat. A winter cover would only mask the problem in this situation. I have never used winter covers on any vehicle that had a properly working coolant system....quite frankly I am of the opinion that winter covers can cause more problems than they solve if one does not monitor engine temperature.

Seems a part number for an L400 thermostat was not in the cards for me.
I decided to purchase one from RSI.

Not saying that it isn't the thermostat but saying winterfronts are
wrong isn't necessarily correct either.
Living on the prairies with extreme temperatures is harsh on all vehicles
working thermostats or not. For diesels it even seems harder given they
won't stay warm when idling (even high idle)

Snow storms even worse in extreme weather since the snow will enter the
engine compartment and pack against the parts needing warmth.

In the picture I posted my delica still has openings for circulation, it isn't near
being closed off. But it's enough to help the engine out a bit. It also keeps
the snow from being sucked into the area around the air filter breather.

This -34 and colder weather is brutal.
