Hi there, Just wanted to share this story.

I bought my Delica L400 low, double sun roof, 4 years ago and it never shifted gears properly. A lot of driving at 80kmh (at 3500rpm) on the highway. A lot of attempts by Delica repair shops to fix this problem. From replacing the TPS (costly), engine tuning and replacing temperature sensors of the gear box, but no success.
I was ready to give it one more shot, before accepting the situation and this time I went to Rising Sun Auto in Richmond BC. (I had bought parts through them before (the TPS and front rotor dics)). This time however I went there to get their advise on the gear shift problem. I explained the problem, the odd conditions it would sometimes work and they listened. They responded, "Has the temperature sensor that deals directly with the Overdrive been replaced?" My answer. "There is such a sensor?"
They was explained that if I was lucky it was the sensor, if I wasn't, it could mean having to replace the transmission. Pretty straight forward, which I appreciated.
David took the Delica on a test ride on the highway, returned and replaced the sensor in question, took the van on a test ride again. The issue was resolved, it change was instantaneously. To this date it still works fine!

I am glad they had the parts that we needed, they seem very well stocked, and didn't get the reply: "We don't have the part, but we can order it in. Come back in 3 weeks we will have it."

Rising Sun also replaced some of the aging belts and advised me to replace the aging rubber parts of the rear suspension. I have bought the parts from Rising Sun and had the work done by a local garage. All went fine, no problem with the parts, Rising Sun had given me exactly what I needed.

For anyone with having this kind of problem with their L400, the location of the sensor is marked in the picture you will find through this link: http://www.mdocuk.co.uk/forums/viewtopi ... 423c29c67d
In the 9th post by Ronnie, it is the sensor marked 'B=single prong sensor'.

Cheers,
Anton

Love hearing good news stories.. : :-D I've received great support from Rising Sun since buying my van almost 2 years ago. Fantastic advice and parts. And I live in Ontario.... The only thing better would be if they opened a second shop here in Peterborough where I live. But since I'm the only one with a Delica, I'm happy for a cheap long distance plan & good mail service.

Glad to hear it was something simple 8-)

Your better off to short the overdrive temp sensor wire to ground , There is really no need for it and this will take it out of the overdrive lockout system .
