Aftermarket JP Stereo Questions
Well my L400 has finally landed and the dealer is doing the full service thing, in talking with him the issue of the stereo came up. Now I'm flying to Van on the July 30 to pick it up and plan on going over to the Island for a couple of days before taking a leisurely 2400 km drive home to Manitoba. Now I don't really care about radio reception but love my tunes and I'm wondering if CDs will likely play in the JP sound system. As you can see in the pics there is an aftermarket stereo [AddZest/Clarion] unit in the van, 2 bass woofers and speaker pods in the back and I assume an amp to drive them.

CD's should play fine as long as the system works.
There is no difference in Japanese CDs. If the head unit is really good, it may also play MP3 on CD-R as well.

Re: Aftermarket JP Stereo Questions
Hopefully the previous owner left everything in it to run the bass. You might be lucky and the cones and rubber suspension of the speakers won't be rotten. My 6x9 yamahas were cooked to a crispy well done. The cone was just barely hanging on....and mine were covered in the rear 1/4 panels.
Wonder what type of enclosure you got there....ported, sealed, band-pass. Geez.just lookin at that stuff feeds my old addiction of custom stereo installs.....mustn't look directly at the woofers......mustn't ogle the enclosure......won't be tempted....oh hell who am I kidding.....I want - I want - I want!!!!!

Re: Aftermarket JP Stereo Questions
Thanks guys, seems the question is redundant as received this pic today of my van on this side of the Pacific, looks like I'll be in Richmond an extra day getting a sound system installed. Oh well, I'm happy with what I see of the rest of the van, and this way I'll get the system I want. Might be able to use the box and the wiring they left, lol
