L400 humming from rear.

Post by Simon84 »

Just got a 95 L400 and it's got a decent humming from the rear. Sounds to me like wheel bearings.
Any tips on trouble shooting that and ordering parts for that?
Thanx.

There is a total of 6 bearings in the differential.

2 for each axle (1 at the brake side and 1 at the differential)
2 for the pinion (inner and outer)

it could be any one of these bearings, it could also be a damaged spider gear.

Here's a site for exploded diagrams of the various Delica L400...all models.

http://www.partsbase.org/mitsubishi/del ... 1994-2006/

It does show a complete exploded diagram with PN's for the Rear diff. Here's the list for a Base Model L400 Highroof, Exceed I, 4M40 engine, auto tranny....You need to drill down to find your exact model....the serial number on your Deli. Use the first 4 characters to ID yours

Mine is a PE8W:

Thanks.
It is a pe8w as well.
I am planning to get it looked over by a mechanic.

Sometimes Trappist monks like to hide in the rear diff.
