Frame rust: Selling your Delica for parts

Post by hartmanwt »

Hi all,

I've been trolling the forum for about a year now without a post, so here goes:

Does anyone have any experience with selling a Delica for parts? I have a 1996 Super Exceed (diesel) with 188k. Other than the rusted out frame, she's in decent shape. Crystal lite roof and nice interior with no major mechanical issues (other than the holy frame).

I've looked into repairs, but the rust runs too deep and in too many places. Classic bump stop rust holes, holes in the front, and other holes that were stuffed with bondo by the previous owner. I had the van inspected by Rising Sun before I bought it, but sadly the rust and hasty bondo patching was missed (to give RS the benefit of the doubt).

Does anyone know what my van might be worth as a parts vehicle? Anyone have any experience with this? I know that frame rust can sometimes be fixed in these vans, but the diagnosis I have from a frame shop in Victoria is that this one should definitely be condemned.

Thanks in advance for the help! Really dig the forum and the camaraderie I've observed here.

It will sell for parts, just don't expect to pull in a premium price. still better then scrapping it though. Some must die so other may live :)
