Ladder to no where?

Post by 39Ronin »

I saw a Delica today and it had a ladder on the rear but it didn't have roof racks or a cargo basket and I thought the ladder was kind of silly. Anyone else have a ladder to no where? I guess you can clean the top easier but other than that...

I have a ladder, but I don't put my roof rack on normally. I only have a few inches clearance with my car port. Beside, an unused roof rack will decrease the mileage.

My Delica came with a ladder, but it was to attach ski racks to. No roof rack.

I first bought my racks for the Deli to put the canoe on,then i wanted to get a cargo box,got that, then getting on the roof was a bit of a pain and it just so happened japan auto in Abby (wich is a good place to grab filters for all the Valley folk)had a Truzo ladder for a low roof and i had to grab it ,wich makes a world of difference for topping and accessing,so if you dont have any thing yet on top at least youll be able to when you do. :M
I am stable in most situations that I have no reservations in stormy conditions.

We bought ours with a ladder to nowhere, but knew we were going to be getting a roof rack for her high roof Deli., so it was not for not. We ordered the rack for her high roof from Japanoid. We got both bars and all four legs (Terzo brand - very good quality but not serviceable as Terzo and their components are no longer readily available) for about 1/4 of the cost of new.

p.s. does anyone out there know of any Terzo locking knobs available? I'm in need of eight knobs as both my wife and I run a Terzo rack system on our RHD imports. I'd hate like H, E, double hockey sticks to have some shmuck walk off with them.

Do Thule locking knobs fit? Does anyone know?

I currently have a "ladder to nowhere"...

I found a great opportunity on the ladder (another delica owner around here had one on when he bought the vehicle but didn't want it) so I bought it right then. I bought it because I do plan to put a rack on the vehicle, but it just hasn't happened yet, in the meantime it helps make it easier to clean the roof and adjust the antennas...

of course there is always the issue that the extra weight on the tailgate makes it harder for the struts to keep it open, however I've now discovered that this only seems to be a problem in the cold, once it gets up to around 10 degrees the tailgate stays open on it's own...

Hey Ronin
Yup, another ladder to nowhere. You're right, its easier to wash the top after a muddy day on the trail, but mostly a case of "I'll get that roof rack back on soon." It was an inch to high to get in my garage and months later still needs to be shortened. Love procrastination!

I want to shorten my rack from 5" clearance to 2" ( 4 cm). My hard bottom inflatable should fit on top and even though it's overheight is the only place for it. How could I fish without my boat?

take care
